  • OK folks, advice needed please.
I have a WM and TD (both ten years old) - do I need to keep a spin dryer as well 'just in case'?

    In case of what

I think you already know the answer, get rid of it :T

    Morning everyone!

Managed to shave about another 10% off my maps collection. The stack measures the span of my hand now, still feels like too much but I think I'm going to have to be satisfied with that for now. It is an improvement on before.

How are you feeling today Tattycath?

Tibbie's Mum, I didn't see that programme but it sounds scary! Isn't it funny how we all have our little weaknesses? I have seen things on tv in the past where people collect their own toenail clippings and hair cuttings (and worse), which does make me feel better about holding onto a few street maps :rotfl:

Craftyscholar, get rid of the spin dryer definitely. I bet your washing machine has a spin cycle anyway, and if you have a tumble dryer breakdown do you have a friend or neighbour who wouldn't mind you using theirs for a couple of loads while you get it fixed? I manage perfectly fine with only my washing machine and clothes airer (appreciate others with bigger familes would struggle more).

Car boot stuff has taken over half my lounge at the moment. When I mentioned I was doing it, a couple of friends have taken the opportunity to give me some things to sell, haha! I've been using banknotes as much as I can to pay for things over the last few weeks, so I've collected loads of change to use on the day. I've read the advice on the car boot thread on MSE. Any other advice from you guys? My last one was about 15 years ago so I'm rusty!

    Fab stuff Craftyscholar!

I've sorted out the leftover paint tins this morning, didn't realise I'd kept so many of them last summer when I did it before. Kept the ones for the newly painted rooms only.

I have an old and rather shabby chest of drawers no longer needed for shed storage... no takers on Freecycle. I am thinking of cleaning it up as best I can and putting it outside the front of my house with a note saying free to take. I've seen others do similar occasionally near where I live but never tried it myself :p

I live in a very quiet road with hardly any passers, but it's got to be worth a try? Running out of other options.
  • Craftyscholar, well done - I just hope you don't suddenly discover a need for a spin dryer :D

Missyg - check out the shabby chic thread on old style - you should see the fabulous things they have done with old furniture

Thanks Charlies_Mum, but if I tried to do anything to it (other than clean it), that would make it even less appealing to a potential new owner than it is already :rotfl: I know my limits :rotfl:

I need to have a think about my lounge - I have this floor to ceiling Ikea shelving unit type thing in an alcove which houses the TV, satellite box & dvd recorder. It used to house lots of books, cds, dvds... but now it's just a lot of empty shelves and it looks pretty silly. I'm thinking one small, low unit will do the trick, with the tv on top?

Keeping empty storage space seems a bit like keeping clothes that are too big...! :p Don't want to have the opportunity to grow back into it!

Paint tins have left the building! :T Proper result there as I was a bit worried about what to do with them, not exactly an easy item to dispose of.

Desktop computer drive all organised, with multiple backups on various media :D

I am now working on my laptop "declutter", I decided a full format and reinstall was in order. It has got so slow lately. So this could take a while, every time I do a full format on a computer something always gets troublesome! :rotfl:

I'd better get a book to read while I do this!
