Forum Incredibly Slow With IE

The screen hung again for me for 20 seconds just now - while "waiting for pong.qubitproducts.com" displayed in the bottom left-hand corner of my screen. :huh:0

it doesn't seem to be just on IE. I'm using the latest version of Firefox and it is interminably slow loading pages nearly all of the time just recently.
TBH on some occasions it is just totally unusable because of the lengthy delays and pages hanging for ages.0 -

Whatever changes have been made need looking at because it's starting to become an issue now ...some feedback would be nice or a comment maybe to say it's being looked at !!!It's not just about the money0 -
I think something has changed. The forums page loaded instantaneously for me.
However when I had started to type this comment, the screen refreshed, losing about two words.
Well done on sorting out the loading problem, if that is what has happened.0 -
The main forum index seems quicker but there's no change to the threads.
Each thread still takes an age to load and the thread preview box still sits there for ages before disappearing.
I think maybe I'm getting cured of my MSE addiction. I'm just constantly frustrated when I come here now.
Edit: Just gone clicking round the forum, all the 'main' areas (index, 'user cp, 'new posts' headings etc) are definitely loading quicker, it's just the threads themselves that still aren't.
Surely this proves the issue was/is at MSE end as we've been saying all along, and nothing to do with our browsers or security?Herman - MP for all!0 -

sounds to me like some kind of ad banner or cookie/spyware is trying to load in and hanging the browser. i won't be getting any of that as I use a custom HOSTS file and strong cookie settings at home and work to mitigate the risk of drive-by ads and cookie based spyware.
It wouldn't surprise me if this was the case as there have been threads popping up here lately where people have used anti-tracking software to prove that something along those lines is going on here, and unsurprisingly no-one from MSE has said a word about it.
There were similar issues a while back on MySpace with drive-by ads infecting people's machines and unsurprisingly MySpace (who knew full well about the issue) did their utmost to oppress and hide the fact that it was happening.
I wouldn't be half surprised if this thread or my reply disappears soon as well, watch this space...Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
[STRIKE]Threads seem to be loading normally now on Chrome. Absolutely fantastic to be usable again.
Not tried on IE mind.[/STRIKE]
Scrap that. Spoke too soon, next couple of threads I clicked on tried to load for ages then hung on a white page.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Interesting thought Maestro. As an experiment I've just set the internet options security to high and sure enough it speeds up no end Looks like there could be spyware on the site ....I'd be interested if someone wants to do the same experiment and see what happens ...might try it later on the laptop and see what happensIt's not just about the money0 -

The g+1 logo in the bookmarks at the foot of the page is always the last thing to load and my security always blocks a cookie from that link.0
