Family Issue causing upset

After having the weekend to think about it, I think it would be better for the OP to just let this lie now, and move on.
Despite repeated requests, the OP has not responded to my query about how the relationship was before her first pregnancy/child and fertility issues. As others have suggested, this leads me to believe that they were never close. And in that context, it is unreasonable to expect them to play happy families now, and be the support she requires (for her father's death), when they are going through their own heartache and grieving.
With that in mind, I think the OP would be far, far happier if she turned to some close friends for support over her father's death.
Whatever SIL's reasons are (whether she's just a b'tch, or really cannot bear to see OP's bump & baby), dwelling on it is not going to help the OP in any way. So, it's probably best to act like nothing's happened. After all, if she's hurting that badly, she'll be respecting that by backing off. And if she is just being a b'tch, and the subsequent comment was meant to illicit a response, then she won't be giving the SIL what she wants.February wins: Theatre tickets0
