. It's funny but I hate to see my old stuff on the rails of my local chazzas. Plus I have been known to re-buy my own stuff again by accident! :D

When I went the other day, I saw a lot of the stuff I'd taken last time! :rotfl:

Not sure if this is a national thing but Cancer Research had a sale with everything for £1.

I bought a gorgeous ivory silk mix Boden shirt and a purple linen mix White Stuff top. For £2:eek:

Had quite a good haul today I got a brand new pair of office ankle boots for £10 and a laura ashley rug for £5 it needs a clean but I've seen one sell on eBay for £130 tonight I got a dress for dd for £1, a metal colander with handle for dd for uni for £1.50 some new footglove suede shoes for £3 and a great plains cardi for £2.50 so probably got about £330 pounds of stuff for about £23.

I do think I wouldn't buy as much if I bought new as I simply couldn't afford it. Charity shopping probably means I have far too much of everything and need a clear out. I do however have a wardrobe full of high end clothes and a house full of lovely things for a fraction of the price and I'm contributing to charity

Bobsa 1's post made me think about my own buying habits and realised that quality things in charity shops have made me head towards the label snob way of thinking. As in, 'ooooh, a Monsoon dress, must have that' as opposed to 'oh, it's from primark and a bit tatty, no thanks.' Laura Ashley rug for a fiver? Well done :)

  • After weeks of nothing, I bought a dark red, 100% wool, long sleeved Jaeger tunic (with tags still on) and a light blue cotton M&S long shirt for £1 each from Age Concern!

  • I love the Age UK shops around where I live. I've had some great bargains from them this year but today I hit the jackpot.
Having lost a lot of weight this year I thought that I'd have a look in the chazzers in a local town as I was there getting other shopping anyway.
So glad I did. I have bought 3 decent coats for £2.00 each and all in the correct size.
The 1st is a grey marled zip up jacket in a wool mix which is perfect for Autumn now that it's getting colder. This is a Spanish label and doesn't appear to be cheap stuff when I looked at their website.
The 2nd is a 3/4 length black leather coat. Think it is a Primark label but you can see it's never been worn and was only £2.00
The 3rd is a brown suede trench coat with a quilted lining. It is very heavy so should be warm for winter. Doesn't look as if it has been worn as there is no signs wear on the back of the neck or sleeve edges where I would expect to see wear.
Really can't believe my luck. It really is feast or famime where charity shops are concerned.

I took a load of stuff up to our local hospice shop and came back with:
A John Rocha dress - sleeveless, knee-length that will be good for a day dress on holiday. Made of Lyocell which I'd never heard of before, very strange incredibly soft fabric. £2.00

A fuchsia pink dress by Artigiano (Italian). Almost maxi length with panels that flare out at the bottom, very flattering design with a V-neck and no sleeves. £2.00

A sun hat in shades of pale blue, yellow & green. Has a drawstring so you can make it smaller round the head (I have a small head) Also £2.00

Off to a nearby town later this week with a friend so maybe pick up some more bargains.
  • Fab charity shop finds! It's ZeroWasteWeek this week so totally appropriate too!

We're giving this thread a shout out on twitter - hopefully we'll hear of even more great finds this week :)

    Now look.....
I know that I already have 3 khaki short casual jackets hanging in my wardrobe but......I just happened to see this one in Age UK. :o

It's a Phase Eight and fits really well (apart from the sleeves but I have plans to sort that out).
It's slightly thicker than my others and also longer and in a military style so will go great with jeans and leggings.

Looks very little worn and cost £4.00 (the price was the clincher really). Would probsbly retail about £75 if not more.

I might even decide to get rid of one of my other 3 to make room for it. :rotfl:
  • Ooh, loads been happening on this thread since I was here last!

I have been trying to restrain myself where charity shopping is concerned, when this has proved futile I have obained the following - a French style shopping basket with leather handles - £4.00, a Zara blue striped skirt £2.99. Hopefully we will be able to wear summer clothes for a little bit longer.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
