Just a book for £1 today, but it's one I'd been wanting to read for ages. At 650+ pages it will keep me entertained for some time....

  • I am so jealous of some of the bargains i see on here.
I went into 6 different charity shops this morning and was amazed at how much they are charging! £8 for a dress, £5 for a pair of trousers and about £4.50 for a shirt!
I remember being able to go and get a whole outfit for £5 about 10 years ago.

BUT i did find 1 shop that everything was £1, so picked a nice dress.
  • I am finding car boot sales to be so much better value and so much choice in one place. On Sunday I bought several items for £16 which would have cost me £166 from a store, and all things I needed. I think I will stick with donating through direct bank payments to charity and forgetting most of the CSs - as you say a lot have got quite unrealistic with pricing.

    Now look.....
I know that I already have 3 khaki short casual jackets hanging in my wardrobe but......I just happened to see this one in Age UK. :o

It's a Phase Eight and fits really well (apart from the sleeves but I have plans to sort that out).
It's slightly thicker than my others and also longer and in a military style so will go great with jeans and leggings.

Looks very little worn and cost £4.00 (the price was the clincher really). Would probsbly retail about £75 if not more.

I might even decide to get rid of one of my other 3 to make room for it. :rotfl:

+++ sell them on Ebay, to earn back the£4 spend :T

  • Yes, some Charity shops really over-charge, considering the stock is donated. I went to a local jumble sale and bought 4 items of clothing for £1.50. I figured even if I make use of 1 item, it's still a bargain. So far I've worn the Dotty Ps lime green v-neck striped T-shirt to work, and the Asda George long-line sleeveless waistcoat, out casually over a top. Still to wear the Bon Marche black floral top, and a thick A-line black flecky shirt, which I may have to alter:j:D:T

  • I've been in a local City today and had the same experience.
A Hospice Shop that was offering tops for £7.50 - I don't think so, even if it was Monsoon (and I didn't like it anyway, so there)!
    Normal people worry me.

My usual Tuesday visit to the hospice chazza sale unearthed nothing today but a chance calling in to another far flung chazza that i don't often get to resulted in me finding an as new pair of beige slim legged trousers by Gap. £1.99 and really nice quality :j

I decided to donate the one I wear least to my sister who thinks it's fab & it looks lovely with her (charity shop) white linen trouisers.
So I got more pleasure out of it than I would if I'd sold it for £4. :)
  • A pair of pale blue Cotton Traders jeans for £2.99 from Sally Army.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
