Keeps the rather more expensive seed order from catalogue down a bit.

Did I mention that OH accidentally threw away all my partially used seed packets and saved seeds last summer? I was away for a few days and he must have felt like a spring clean  !

Only thing i noticed is that they don't tell you when to plant them.

On the back there are roman numerals next to sow/plant/harvest. I think these are the months of the year ????

    hmm... intriguing.

    Title says it all really

Just picked up next weeks flyer from Lidl, some offers are 40 litres multipurpose compost 1.99, grow bags 89, fruit trees 3.99

And for the challenge, lemon, orange, olive, fig bushes 2.99

Continues on Monday 3rd March with garden tools, pots, more plants & flowers

I will be there for a pear as I fancy trying cordon one on my garden wall, once I have cleared the ivy off it that is :o

Depending where you live you can actually grow them outside in UK

    http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/forums/wildflowers-plants-and-tree-forums/6089-olive-trees-bearing-fruit-england.html

IIRC someone had a plantation Worcester area, but it does depend very much on location, and no doubt winter cold & wet

Should you get olive fruits then the next trick would be how to get them edible, apparently they can't be used directly from the bush

But that would be a nice problem for another year I guess:rotfl:

  • Thanks Farway, I didn't know you couldn't just pick and eat them! Might give it a miss until I've got a bit more experience under my belt and start with something a bit simpler.

I have two mental dogs who will simply tear the trees to shreads, like they did last year.

This year I bought 10 meters of chicken wire 0.9m tall for £10 in a DIY store, B&Q do it, and a lot of 8 ft bamboo poles for £4.50.

If you cut the poles in two, stake them into the ground and wrap the chicken wire around each tree like this, pets cant get at them - pretty good for all plants bushes shrubs etc..

If you lay some over the ground, they cannot did up the roots either.
so says another ordinary mug fighting the 1% who own the political machine grinding them down from on high...
