  • Hi Ras

Yes I am totally nuts about Nick Drake. One of the greatest musicians this country ever produced. Just a shame he never lived long enough to see how popular his music has now become.

I have just been in to lidl and bought some. Most were either 29p or 49p.
I got some flowers for the garden and some veg. I bought something called pattisson, sunburst....i think its a yellow pepper. Does anyone know if thats what it is, and when to sew them.
When do you sew dwarf broad beans?
Only thing i noticed is that they don't tell you when to plant them.

Pattisson- Patty Pans I thinks these are a similar variety- http://seeds.thompson-morgan.com/uk/en/product/242/1 They are a type of squash. I bought them too. The Hybrid seeds were the 49p ones :)

You can but you may be a bit early, depending where you live they will grow outside OK once summer arrives, treat as marrow / pumpkin etc

I have same from Lidl and hope to grow them up a trellis this year

Don't sow patty pans till April. Then keep them in the greenhouse until all frost risk has past before planting out - usually mid to late May depending on where you live.

  • If anyone takes a holiday to Europe especially Spain or Portugal seeds there are half the price and double the quantity of UK. Depends on quantity required but very good value for money even compared to Lidl quoted above. Of course you need to be on holiday in the first place.Like petrol/diesl prices seeds seems to be another area where Brits are ripped off in the home market

Had a look on Friday. Have most of what I need already but got seed of herbs and vegtables which I would not normally buy as the quantities I want are too small to justify the expense.

The peas and beans at 49p are a real bargain, although the range is limited. Once you have french beans or peas, you can save your own seed for next year of course.

Someone mentions the lack of cultural information; it is on the back in roman numerals however.

So the little icon on the left for planting followed by IV-V indicates that you should plant in the fourth and fifth months (April-May). The icon on the right indicates when they should be ready to harvest.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
