what to buy my bride as a wedding present?

  • When did all this start? We got married in 2008 and, despite Mrs G having every wedding mag and book in print (or so it seemed,) we certainly weren't aware of it then.

It was common in the (late) 90's, when DH & I were married, so perhaps it's actually gone out of fashion, as wedding costs have spiralled.

We got married in the 80s and no-one suggested that we were supposed to buy each other presents.

Maybe it's a regional or class thing?
  • I got my missus a personalised reg for her car. We got married on 08/08/2008 and her new reg ended 888 and her three initials (her last initial having changed to mine on that day!) she loved it and I got plenty of brownie points lol! She got me a lovely watch that I use every day.

I love buying pressies for her and I would definitely do it again!

    It's lucky your wedding day wasn't 06/06/2006!

I must admit I've never heard of the bride and groom buying each other presents on their wedding day. That's a new one to me.

My husband bought me diamond earrings for our wedding day.
I bought him cufflinks, some groom boxer shirts and socks (cheesy I know lol!) and also had a headed letter from Norwich City FC signed by the captain wishing us all the happiness etc etc! He was very pleased with it :)
Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j

I think I missed out big time.

Not only did I not get a pressie from the OH on our wedding day but I didn't get a pressie when Junior was born either.

He doesn't do valentines day either (but come to think of it I don't do hallmark day either)

Should I trade him in, and have a new baby so I can get all these pressies?

Haha sounds like our husbands were separated at birth. We don't do Valentines gifts and never did anniversaries. Our wedding was a few days before Christmas so we did wedding rings as our Wedding and Christmas gifts to each other- to be fair we were both happy with this.
My friends on their wedding day. One asked for an Ipod so she could listen to music on honeymoon. The other was surprised by the gift of Diamond necklace to match engagement ring.
Does your fiance have a decent camera to take photos on honeymoo:A:An etc or even a compact video camera might be good so she could record your future happy memories? Love the spa day idea- i could do with one to recover from our wedding ;)
