I got the letter yesterday, phoned my CC account today and found three transactions of £50 made to a gambling company in Gibraltar called Mansion or something!
I'm not very happy as after nearly a decade of internet shopping, This is the first time my card has ever been compromised.0 -
i am so unhappy about this - not just the fact that we have been ripped off but the fact that no-one at mse seems to care - mse membershave been collectivly been ripped off for £1000'a and the threads about it a religated to here where the chances of stumbling accross it are nil - to me this is a too important situation
i emailed the mod who moved and closed these threads but have had no reply - i have also emailed martin and no reply
i have now set up a new thread in the grabbit board and would as every one to join me in asking the mods to make it a sticky
if it gets any worse i will certainly consider going to a national newspaper over this - i, like others am not a rich man and come here to save money not be ripped off!!!!!0 -

it's hardly the fault of MSE, is it? The offer you bought wasn't endorsed by MSE and you took up the offer on your own volition. I really can't see how you can have a beef with MSE about this as you are free to make your own choices over what & where you buy!
I really take issue with posters (mainly newbies if you look at the post counts) blaming MSE for any part of this. You use these forums to find offers but as soon as something goes wrong you are quick to blame them. Taking up any offers you happen to see on this forum are at your own risk, as with anything else
(dons flameproof suit....you can flame me all you want though because, whilst I have sympathy for your plight, laying blame at MSE because "you saw it on here" is not right, IMO)0 -

i do not think mse is in anyway reponsible for its members being ripped off!!! we are all adults and as such we all make our own decisions
i do however think mse has some responsibilty in warning its members if their bank accounts are being plundered because of a posting on the grabbit board in a prominent and pro active way
you obviously have not been affected as others have to the collective tune of £1000's - i for one have found this whole situation very disressing
and your comments about newbie members are to my mind insulting - are you suggesting we should not air our views till we have a post count such as yours!!!
and please stop rolling your eyes on a thread which to many is very serious and distressing0 -
I haven't had a chance to look at the site the last few days so the first I was aware was when I received a letter in the post, I went to the bank and canceled my card and luckily it had not been used and I am really thankful for this - I feel for all of you that have had been affected and I hope your banks are helpful and it gets sorted.
I had only placed one order with the company earlier this month, never used them before but I will not use them again as firstly they seemed reluctant to contact the police. I feel they should have done this immediately - this has been going on all week. Also I do feel the company could have sent an email out rather than a letter as this is such a slow way to contact customers with something as important as this. It wouldn't have hurt to do this.
I can't place blame as who knows what has happened but I hope now the police are aware and are dealing with it for the sake of all of those who are out of pocket - I feel for you and wish you luck....This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I spoke to my CC company today and they are aware of the problem with shopneo and that shopneo have sent a letter out.
Unfortunately this was not before a total £604 had been charged to my card on gambling sites. This must be adding up to a considerable amount now, judging by the sums mentioned on here, as I am sure there must also be others affected who have not posted.
Despite all the assurances that it is safe, it hardly gives you confidence in shopping on-line does it?Charlie0 -
I saw a warning on MSE a few days ago but on that thread it was being made out to be someone with a grudge / competition to shopneo. Nothing had been taken from my card so I left it at that. After receiving a letter from shopneo and reading this thread I've cancelled my card. A bit of hassle - but better safe than sorry some time down the line. Especially if you use these gambling sites anyway - imagine how hard it might be to spot if it wasn't excessive.0

Strangely enough a recent order of mine at ShopNeo was cancelled due to my card being "declined by my credit card issuer" on the 22nd of February.
However, the number seemed good enough for some little git to spend £67 at Gala Casino some days earlier. I'm probably going to struggle getting the Alliance and Leicester to refund this payment.0 -
The banks are obviously aware of the problem at Shopneo, so you may be able to get your money back.Charlie0

Just popped in (Got the deal from elsewhere originally) to say my card had £67 taken off through "GALA CORAL" which equates to 100 Euros, cancelled that card and another card i had used to order the 320gb seagate drives they had on offer.0
