Deleted, too much criticism for me to deal with at the moment.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Oh wise folk - help please.
OH has got it into his head that all food brought by 'housekeeping' money should be shared equally between all 4 of us (a nearly 15 year old and nearly 17 year old sons, himself and me). This all kicked off because I let #1 son 'buy' (for £1, which has gone into the family holiday fund pot) 2 Cadbury's Flake bars from a box of 24 I'd bought from Approved Foods.
OH says the 24 should be divided by 4 (=6) and if somebody has one when nobody else does, then they have 'lost' one of their 6.
I believe this sort of attitude, especially for food that's not 'one off' (like home made cakes etc.) isn't healthy. More Flakes can be obtained when the next person fancies some chocolate, and to count each one out is rediculous. He says because he's working, and #2 son is at school, that our son and I have an advantage because we're at home - we do NOT pig out when he's at work BTW.
He sounds like he's trying to control something. Put the silly little brat in his place. Brats get treated like brats - regardless of age.0 -
Oh for goodness sake. If he wants to be that silly about it, I'd stop buying treats at all! Or hand them out equally when you get them, and once their lot is gone, it's gone. No bickering over chocolate then.
I am, however, unclear why #1 son had to 'buy' any from you. If they were already in the house, surely they were for all to share? And the only problem I could then see, is if one of you eats say 3 in one day, with no signs of slowing down. Which is a separate issue that can be addressed.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
OMG I read this about 6 times and my head still hurts!
Tell your husband to get a life rather than having a Hitler approach to chocolate bars, they are growing lads!
BUT what is the "buying" them off you part all about? This seems odd also!
Don't buy food that you don't want them to eat. Simple.0 -
What a load of carp.
Never have I heard such nonsense to be arguing over.
If you argue over flakes how on earth do you discuss the important things in life.:beer:0 -
Me too 19lottie, read and reread and got it in the end (I think).
Both of you sound unreasonable. No idea why a son would have to pay for a bargain treat and your OH is out of order. If you were students living in shared accomodation I might get it, but you are a family, so it's just bizarre.0 -
Why was your son buying food from his own home?0

What?????
Children having to 'buy' food? Food being rationed? If your family isn't capable of sharing, don't buy treats in the first place.
What a bizzare attitude you all have.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Raksha, your post has been quoted so everyone can see it anyway.
If your son has bought them (not brought them by the way) then they are his anyway. Maybe your son should have gone to the shop so your husband can find something else to spit his dummy out about lol.
Wow what a post......0 -
Do you operate pay as you dine as well?
I've never heard anything so stupid. If it is bought for the household then it's available to all without extra payment.
They get eaten as and when people want them without playing the shares game.
It's a regular occurrence in our house that some sort of sweet is bought and by the time that I get around to fancying one they have all been eaten. Luck of the draw, i just have to remember to get the urge to eat one a lot sooner when they are bought again. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
