I have already gone through the court re claiming charges back from RBS. I am claiming back £5000 (including interest and court charges). The RBS have until 30th May to provide a long list of info to the court. Today I received a letter from Cobbetts Solicitors stating that they want to settle out of court and that National Westminster Bank ? ? have sent me a cheque for £4739 :T and that I should fill out the enclosed form to inform the court that I no longer wish to continue with the case. The thing I dont get is what does Natwest bank have to do with this. Cobbetts state them as being their client but I am claiming against RBS. Also do I hold off with the form until I receive the cheque.
    Sorry for the long post.
    Thanks

    Hi Jill

I too am starting a claim with RBS - can I still put the claim through the courts in the uK - even though the registered office is in Scotland. WHat address do you put on the court papers?

Natwest/RBS are the same now - however they still like to be treated individually I was told. I even had to make 2 calls to the same number as they would not deal with both banks in one call - strange!!!!

I sent my letter requesting my bank charges be repaid by recorded post last wednesday(23rd) to the Edinburgh address of RBS.Received a letter this morning (dated 24th) to say that they are currently considering my claim and that given the work involved in assessing my claim they anticipate that they will be in a position to respond in 6-7 weeks.
    I'm counting the days!

    Morning All,
RBS paid £1215 into my account on Saturday - nice one! How do I go about stopping the court action now? The bank got to the defending the charges stage but then offered me the full amount back. I accepted but now I need to stop the action.
Anyone know who i need to call?!
    Thanks
  • I sent my 2nd letter dated 15th of May 2007 asking for my bank charges to be repaid. I recieved a letter 3 days later to say that they are currently considering my claim and that given the work involved in assessing my claim they anticipate that they will be in a position to respond in 6-7 weeks.

Do I wait this time? As my letter stated I gave them 14 days, what actions to I take now?

You can send the next letter threatening court but RBS are pretty good at coming up with an offer so after that its probably worth giving them some time to come back to you.

  • Does anyone know what dates they are up to on paying out. By that I mean that previous posts had said 7-8 weeks from eg week of 4th April. My confirmation letter was dated 26th April and, following a phonecall was told 7-8 weeks from then. I'm just wondering whether it is worth a follow up call.
