If you have threatened to take them to court that's what you do. Don't make empty threads, the bank will not take you seriously, and sitting back waiting won't get you very far.

Although with RBS its worth waiting for a bit as they usually come up the the right offer.

Hello - everyone - first post here but i've been reading and keeping up to date on here for a while.

Anyway, i got my Statements trhough from RBS this morning, 29 days after requesting them.

I have worked out that I am owed £3493 (£4482.74 with Interest) on one account (that is now long closed) and £115 (£140.09 with Interest) on another account. I am claiming all of it and the Interest!

Sending off the first claim letters today, recorded delivery.

Are RBS trying to claim they have a back-log and if so are they trying to delay settling claims? Can they even do this?

Also, from reading through the success stories it seems people are being offered the full amount plus interest as 'goodwill' gestures on smaller claims and just the charges on bigger claims. Does this seem to be the pattern? If they offer me the charges minus Interest should I take it? I want the lot plus interest really!

Anyway, wish me luck - and good luck to the rest of you making claims!

    :money:

    SUCCESS

After simply sending letter Three threatening court action in 14 days, I got a standard letter from RSB, we do not agree with the basis of your complaint, we believe the charges we levy are for providing services bla bla... Furthermore we believe these charges are fair, reasonable and transparent.

    Turn the page...

However, having reviewed your case and as a gesture of goodwill and without admission of liabillity or error, in this instance we are prepared to off the ammount of £3563 paid direct to you by cheque.

    !!!

    Brilliant.

Couldn't or wouldn't have done it without this site, and it's members. Thank you all!

    Hi,
I have just spoken to RBS customer relations regarding my bank charges and they have informed me that they are up to 4th April with regards claims. So, If you got back the "we are considering your claim" letter and the date in the top right corner is 4th April or less, so to speak, they will be sending out a letter of offer which could take 10 working days. Or at least thats the way I understand it. So hold tight!! As my letter is dated 6th I have to wait an extra two days! Im not sure if its just another way of stalling but it will be interesting to see the offer. I have a sneaky feeling the offer will be miniscule but I will post it here. It does seem that RBS are ok when you are nice and polite to them!!
    Good Luck

    Hi Guys!
I too have just got off the phone with the Edinburgh Customer Services people - and I have to say, as has been said in previous posts, they were great. I suspect that they are just relieved when they get a customer who is polite - after all, would we want to be doing their job right now?! I was asked to check the amounts I'm reclaiming (just over £2000 over 2 accounts) and was told that they've just finished processing claims from 6-7th April. As mine reached them on 13th April, I should expect a reply by the end of next week. It might not be to my original timescale, but I'm prepared to give them the extra time as long as they're prepared to be helpful!! Reading between the lines from what I was told, I think they are at a stage where they are sending out offer letters for the full amount but without interest. I claimed interest initially as it would give me a bit more room for manoeuvre on the amount I was prepared to accept - maybe it's working - I'll let you know...!!

Could you let me know the telephone number you used.

I have not received my statements after 40 days and after at least 4 phone calls. Should I carry on down this line or should I just send a letter of complaint to the Information Commissioner?

Has anybody taken RBS to task over their charges, how easily do they cave??

This is the first time on this site, I don't mean to b nosey but can you tell me how you got on getting your charges back from R.B.S.
They owe me 438.00 in charges, they had even charged me for having the right money in my account. I also got told that there NOT allowed to take money off you if it is from benefits....... Is that true.

the number I used is 08453030442 for Customer relations in Edinburgh. The 0800 number is a waste of time, twice I have been on hold for over twenty mins. You will still have to wait a little while on the 0845 number but its worth it as they are very polite and know their stuff. When I phoned my branch last week they told me a load of rubbish that even the customer relations dept admitted was wrong "they must have got their wires crossed" when what she meant was "they told you a pack of lies to get you off the line"!!
