Ok, I've just prepared 2nd letter to post to Cust. Rel. Unit.

Prob sound like a complete wimp, but worried as I took out a loan with RBS a couple of months ago for £7,000. Could they turn nasty, close acct. and make me pay off all the loan?
Your loan is a legaly binding contract and they can not close it or ask for all the payment as asap, so don't worry about that.
Also my fiancee has just got all his charges back (£3600) and he has a loan with RBS and they haven't mentioned it at all, so I don't think you have anything to worry about with your loan, nor have they said anything about closing his account. I think other people have has the same expereince with RBS.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Feel better now, will post letter first thing tomorrow am.

Good luck and best wishes xx;)
    :D

    Successfully claimed so far:
    Co-op Credit card £75.00
    Cap One £200 for O/H
    Barclaycard: £108
    RBS: £290
    Cap One: £126
    HSBC: £338.50 for daughter.
  • I would suggest giving RBS a bit of lee-way regarding timings as they do seem to pay out the full amount without court action. If he doesn't hear after the next 14 days are up its worth a pleasant phone call asking them at what stage him claim is at.

The most recent success story on RBS.

It is now nearly 3 weeks since my son sent his letters threatening court action. All he has had back is the standard 'we are looking into your claim' letters. He phoned today and was told it would be 8 weeks from them receiving his first letter and they were not going to budge from that. The number given on his letter was 0845 3030 442

Should he now go ahead and file court claims? Two of his claims will be under the £750 so can be at the small claims court but the third one may be over once interest is added. Could someone advise on best course of action please? Our nearest court will be Kilmarnock Sherriff court.
Terrified we do the wrong thing as it is scary talking about court action now!

I wrote to the bank on 4th April asking for my money back. They replied on 11th April to say they were considering my claim.I called them on 2nd May to ask for progress they said they would send me aletter on 30th May making me an offer,as I thought this was unreasonable I sent them a letter on 2nd May to say I was taking them to court. It has been 14 days today and no reply where do I go from here.

Recieved a letter from the royal bank of scotland on 26th April regarding charges applied to my account, they are considering my claim and will respond shortly.
Do i ring them to see what's happening or wait for a further letter?

Stick to the timescales in your original letter. They are telling everyone it will take 8 weeks (check back over previous posts!!). Just frustrating that you have to push them so much.

  • Hi i have recently requested the charges back giving the bank 14 days to reply to myself. i received a letter 7 days later to say The bank was considering my claim and they would respond as soon as possible. It is now 14 days later. so i rang RBS today and they said the claim would take between 7 and 8 weeks. Is this correct or should i send the 3rd letter threatening court proceedings. Thanks Jodie
