  • hello everyone,

I wondered if anyone could help? I sent a letter off to my branch to get a list of my charges for the last 6 years. Forty days have just passed so I rang the branch to get an update. The woman in the branch told me that the branch no longer open any mail sent to them and that it would have been sent to the 'service centre' and that she would investigate.

So, she called me back and (big surprise) it seems there is no trace of my letter and that it had probably gone walkabout. Anyway, she was very helpful and told me that she would get copies of my last 6 years statements and send them to me asap for no charge (which is nice!).

Anyway, my question is this, does anyone know where and to whom I should send my next letter asking for my charges back (when I have worked them out)? I don't want my next letter to go 'walkabout' !

    Thanks!

    Hiya,
Called RBS and asked them to revise their offer to include the interest and the incurred court costs. They said that it was not their policy to include any of these. They have offered £1215 but through my moneyclaim it's escalated to £1645.
So I asked them to meet me halfway and pay £1450 but she said the figure was non negotiable.
So quick question people. Do I just take the 1215 or should I hold out for the full amount? If so how long would it normally take? Getting married in August so could really do with the extra money, but not if it will drag on and take another 2 or 3 months. Has anyone had experience of RBS timescales? Will they go all the way to the small claims or pay out beforehand. Are they likely to pay out at all??!
Sorry to keep banging on, and I am not a greedy person. £1215 would be brilliant in my bank now - but the extra £430 would be very useful/refreshing behind the bar in August!
    Thanks!
  • Hi,

Sorry if the answer to this is already on forum.

I've received letter from RBS on 19th April saying they are considering my claim for charges and will get back to me asap. How long should I give them before sending the next letter?

Also, the letter was from Customer Relations Unit in Edinburgh so should I reply back to this office rather than local branch (where I sent my 1st letter initially) ?

Many thanks everyone and good luck ;)

Another 14 days? No way! The letter you've received is nothing more than an acknowledgement.

If you receive no reply by 14 days from the date of your first letter (or a "no" reply in the meantime), send the second letter immediately back to the CRU in Edinburgh.

Just don't expect a cheque for the full amount by return of post.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • Thank you Stephen. Ok, I am going to send my second letter this afternoon.

Its probably non negotiable to that person answering the phone, write back and give them 7 days to at least offer the amount you will accept but it really should be the full amount at this stage, or you place your complaint with the FO.

Thanks Edingbrugh lass - I think I will persue it now!
Does Martin or anyone else know of any templates on here for such a letter? I will have a look about the forum to see whether there is anything I can use in the meantime.
    Thanks again!

Ok, I've just prepared 2nd letter to post to Cust. Rel. Unit.

Prob sound like a complete wimp, but worried as I took out a loan with RBS a couple of months ago for £7,000. Could they turn nasty, close acct. and make me pay off all the loan?

I am claiming over £3,000 in bank charges from the Royal Bank Of Scotland after an illness left me with charges of upto £120 per day!! over 4 years ago, in one month I was charged over £500 so am very pleased that I can now fight for that money back. However I have been given the run around by the bank, after sending my 1st letter requesting a list of my charges and a Chq for £10 I heard nothing, so when I called them they told me thay had not recieved my letter (very convenient), Once recieved I sent of my second letter and waited 3 weeks, still nothing so i called the bank who told me they had 8 weeks to contact me and that I should wait.
I have now sent my second letter and last week went to the Money Claim Online website and set up court action. The bank have until the end of next week to respond. I started this process at the end of January so will be glad when It is finally all over. To this day I have not had a single letter or phone call from the bank regarding my claim. For all of you out there who are thinking of claiming dont give up!!! and good luck. Will let you know the outcome for myself next week.
