Thanks very much to everyone for the info regarding the 'We are considering your claim' letters. I was in a quandary myself as to what to do about this and I must say it's reassuring to hear that others are the same. If RBS are dealing with claims dated 6/7th April just now I may just wait 4 weeks as my letter was dated 7th May. I'm hopeful that RBS will settle my claim justly and pay up in full, but who knows what they'll do.
Also, I'm curious as to whether RBS are sticking to their 8 week deadline from the date of the 'We are considering your claim' letters' - if anyone has any experience of this could they please post their news.
Thanks again to all who've posted their experiences.

I started my claim with RBS back in January and todate had not received a single letter or telephone call from them regarding my claim until today.

I had to go the whole way and take them to court (Costing me £120) The bank had until 22nd May to respond and they did with an acknowledgement. I was claiming £2,670 charges plus interest of £876.00 and the court charge of £120.00 Totalling £3,666.00. Today i received a letter from the bank saying they accept no wrong doing blah blah blah.... but offering me £2670.00 which is the amount owed less interest and court costs. Can anyone advise where to go from here, do I claim interest and carry on, i do feel quite strongly about this as I was in hospital with meningitis and unable to work and my bank charged me around £180.00 per day in charges but on the other hand am I being greedy should I accept the offer and run.

Seeing as you have gone through the court process and now you are just waiting for the time to end and RBS have been very good with other requests, I would have thought see it until the end.
It is just under £1'000 you are saying good bye too, but it is totally your decision.

Tried ringing them today - lots of holding time but the options kind of made me laugh:

If you have a charges complaint, select 1. For all other complaints, press 2

The person I spoke to was apologetic about the 8 week wait but complained about 'everyone deciding to claim back at once'. Looks like they're feeling the heat a bit.

Greedy would be asking for money that you are not entitled to, prudent? maybe.
You have come this far, write or preferably phone and negotiate, they will improve the offer
    Good luck

Hi thanks for the advice, i did call them today and i must say the girl i spoke to was very nice, In fact im sure she advised me at one point to carry on with the claim!!! although she didnt repeat it again. Anyway she advised that i would not get another offer from them as this is non negotiable and that I could not get my £120.00 court fees back on top. So if I refuse this offer what do I do next? As far as the MCOL page shows this case has been started and aknowledged by the bank how do I proceed? One other thing, I asked for the charges that were on my account over the last 6 years but must admit I didnt take of the refunds I got occassionally, the bank have obviously not checked the amount i have asked for is correct, if i go to court and need to fill in new forms will this matter??? (want it all eh!!!)

I have already gone through the court re claiming charges back from RBS. I am claiming back £5000 (including interest and court charges). The RBS have until 30th May to provide a long list of info to the court. Today I received a letter from Cobbetts Solicitors stating that they want to settle out of court and that National Westminster Bank ? ? have sent me a cheque for £4739 :T and that I should fill out the enclosed form to inform the court that I no longer wish to continue with the case. The thing I dont get is what does Natwest bank have to do with this. Cobbetts state them as being their client but I am claiming against RBS. Also do I hold off with the form until I receive the cheque.
    Sorry for the long post.
    Thanks

Cobbetts are also acting for the Natwest.

It looks like a blunder on their part. I'd suggest writing, maybe in the sarkiest tone possible :D , getting them to correct their faux pas.
Hamsters have no tact and diplomacy, nor do they want any.

Natwest and Royal Bank of Scotland are one and the same now however, don't stop the claim until such times as you actually have the cheque.

It really depends on what the offer is as they may well have checked your claim and taken off any charges they aren't prepared to pay. You can insist on your court charges being paid and at this stage also the interest but best to wait and see what the offer is.
