I have an RBS Royalties Gold account for which they charge me £12 a month for but if I go over my overdraft they add what they refere to as a 'Maintenance Charge' I am assuming this is they same as Service Charges and I cannot claim for it can any one confirm. Thanks

Nope, it's still a penalty charge.

I have a Royalties account too.

Thanks Kurt_Hamster, I take it you mean I can claim for this. Have you done so?

Yes you can, and yes I have, there's also a second claim brewing as the total charges for this month alone is currently at £654 which means they are taking every penny (and more) that comes into my account.

On all copies of my statements they have sent me for the last 6 years they have lumped this Maintenance charge in with the normal fee they charge for Royalties Gold so a bit unsure of how much the actual Maintenance charges are as I am not sure what the fee for the account has been for all these years I know its £12 at the moment so need to find out what it has been over the last 6 years. Am upto £2708 at the moment without all these Maintenance charges. So don't want to send them any wrong info so they can stall.
  • Hi all,

I recently submitted the letter to RBS asking for my charges back and they had 14 days to respond. They did respond within the 14 days, acknowledging receipt of my letter and said they were dealing with my claim.

How long have they now got to respond again with a offer or refusal to pay up? I haven't heard anything since their acknowledgement letter.

    Anyone got any idea?

Your letter gave them 14 days to pay and they havent, they have only acknowledged, so the the next step is to send the LBA (Letter before Action). They have entered you into their complaints procedure which has different timescales and you dont have to follow them. Good luck :)

Ahh right.... So the 14 days deadline was actually to pay-up, not just respond?

    I'm on the case...

    Thanks!

Technically yes, with this line from the template letter :

I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money and therefore ask that you repay me the full amount.

At least that is how I read it anyway. It wont hurt to send the LBA and poke them a bit anyway :)

    Dear All

I have accepted £1700 from RBS and it has been over a month and have still not recieved the amount. I wrote a letter reminding them. What should i do now? Shall i write a 7 day letter and tell them i going to court? They have not responded to me letter.

Has any one else had this problem?

    Thanks
