  • Hi

I wrote to Mint at the end of March requesting £652 back. I received a letter at the beginning of April offering me £188 which they said was the difference between the amount I had been charged and the new amount of £12. I wrote back on 10 April saying I did not think this offer was reasonable, and if I didnt hear from them in 14 days I would go to court.

I have today received another letter from them offering £188 again. they are re-iterating that this is the banks final response to my claim and that if I am still dissatisfied, I should refer my case to the financial ombudsman.

What should I do now? should I just continue with the timetable and do MCOL, or should I contact the ombudsman? What do you think?

    Any ideas / opinions welcomed!

    thanks

I am claiming for 2 Visa credit cards that I used to have with RBS which are now closed.

I sent my original letter asking for statements to

    Royal Bank of Scotland
    Data Protection Team
    36 St Andrews Square
    Edinburgh
    EH2 2YB

    However, the replies came from

    Royal Bank of Scotland
    PO Box 6050
    Southend on Sea
    SS99 1WL

which is the address I am dealing with now.

They will pass the letter on for you if it does reach the wrong department though :)

    Hi,
    THANKS FOR THE HELP
I have just started claiming from RBS it is an old closed account and I thought I would try this first and see how I go. I am feeling positive and if this is succsesful I will gain in confidence to tackle the rest.
I have the very last statement and I requested the 'whole history of charges'
this means claiming back further then 6 years.
paid all debts off 2024 yay

You can't claim for more than 6 years back

I am asking on behalf of my fiancee.

He is claiming back bank charges from RBS, has sent 2 letters stating the amount and interest, and giving them 14 days notice, anyway 14 days came and went, and he had heard nothing back, so I told him to phone RBS, after speaking to them, ( very nice and very easy) 10 days later, he receives a letter offering him, £3680 without interest, great!! apart from he is claiming £4788 inc interest. Difference of £1'108

He is thinking of accepting this, I think he should not, but he is worried about court.
    So the question is,
1 - Should he call them again and try to get all his money back or
2 - accept the offer or
3 - Go all the way to court

    Thanks for your help

How much is the claim without interest? Remember you are not entitled to interest unless you file a court claim.

If what they're offering covers the charges in full without interest, you must accept this offer. If it is less, you can either accept or proceed to court, it's a personal decision.
  • started on 12th february, money in account on 11th april, so just about 8 weeks, have just sent a letter about our other rbs account today though threatening court again
  • i think if they offer the charges without interest it gets settled much quicker otherwise you have to go to court, which you can of course and i think everyone has won but it takes much longer
