There seems to be varying degrees of success with RBS and am not sure if this has been answered but I sent my first letter and the reply was received well within the time limit .......even though it was just 6 years of statements with no correspondence attached sent 2nd class mail!! I have since sent the 2nd letter listing all charges plus interest which totalled just over £7000.I have now received the reply which informed me..'currently considering your claim and will respond as soon as possible'.Do I now wait 14 days from the date of this letter or the original which would be 11th April(tomorrow)The reply to my 2nd letter has come from Customer Relations Unit in Edinburgh although my letters have all been sent to my local branch in Wales......I take it that I am now to correspond with them? Thanks in advance
You have stipulated your deadlines, so do not be thrown of course by their delaying tactics. Remember you are making the claim and you are in control of the timings etc.

I phoned up customer relations this morning regarding how long it would take for money to reach my account. They said they had a backlog and it would be in my account by friday. Let's hope it is.0

I am with RBS (the One Account) and was concerned about claiming my charges as my mortgage is tied in with my current account.
But I decided to try and claim them back and see what happened, I got my statements online and I totalled it to £2500, I sent my letter and details of the charges giving the 14 days, and on the 12th day I recieved a letter stating that they would refund the charges a total of £2900!!! and the money was back in my account within 3 days......
A Huge Thank you to MSE
If you like what I say please say thanks

Just thought I would say hello, I've got my statements and making a claim for around 2780 inc interest. My letter claiming a refund has just been sent recorded delivery this afternoon. I will keep reading this forum and post back when I get a reply from R.B.S
Thanks in advance for any advice I may need

My RBS branch account is still in Glasgow, I've lived in York for years without changing this. How does this affect my re-claiming charges? Is it based on the law in the country I'm in or where my branch is? Incidentally it was my branch I've been sending the letters to, they still have 3 days until I have to go to the next stage - starting court proceedings as have had no response at all, should I have chosen head office?0

I'll shift your post into the Royal Bank thread in a minute but to answer your questions, as you live in England you can claim back 6 years and use MCOL (Money Claim Online).
At the MCOL stage you would use an English address for RBS rather than their registered address which is in Edinburgh, one of the main London branches will do.
However, as RBS are pretty good at paying before it goes to the court stage, its worth while ringing them on one of the numbers you'll find in the RBS thread.0 -
