I used to have a Mastercard through the Royal Bank of Scotlan should I be using the following address to request a list of my charges?
Data Protection Team
36 St Andrews Square
Edinburgh
EH2 2YB
I am claiming for 2 Visa credit cards that I used to have with RBS which are now closed.
I sent my original letter asking for statements to
Royal Bank of Scotland
Data Protection Team
36 St Andrews Square
Edinburgh
EH2 2YB
However, the replies came from
Royal Bank of Scotland
PO Box 6050
Southend on Sea
SS99 1WL
which is the address I am dealing with now.
They will pass the letter on for you if it does reach the wrong department though0 -
i'm VERY WORRIED - i'M CLAIMING AROUND 1200 BANK CHARGES AND HAVE TAKEN THE ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND TO COURT. jUST RECEIVED A COPY OF THEIR DEFENCE AND HAVE 14 DAYS TO RESPOND ALTHOUGH THEY DID OFFER A PARTIAL REFUND 11 DAYS AFTER SMALL CLAIMS THEY NOW SAY THIS OFFER IS WITHDRAWN BECAUSE OF COURT ACTION. CAN ANYONE HELP :money:0

Have a read up on the successes.. Its standard stuff and they won't go to court with it. Yet another scare tactic unfortunately.

There seems to be varying degrees of success with RBS and am not sure if this has been answered but I sent my first letter and the reply was received well within the time limit .......even though it was just 6 years of statements with no correspondence attached sent 2nd class mail!! I have since sent the 2nd letter listing all charges plus interest which totalled just over £7000.I have now received the reply which informed me..'currently considering your claim and will respond as soon as possible'.Do I now wait 14 days from the date of this letter or the original which would be 11th April(tomorrow)The reply to my 2nd letter has come from Customer Relations Unit in Edinburgh although my letters have all been sent to my local branch in Wales......I take it that I am now to correspond with them? Thanks in advance
This is the exact position i find myself in.I posted my letter on the 28th of March to my local branch and recieved a "we are dealing with your claim get back to you" now they still have 6 working days to offer me the money .My question is this. I have a refernece number and a phone number to contact them has anyone had success by doing this and should i be encouraged or not to phone them. Also now they have replied and it is not satisfactory can i proceed to next letter? any help would be aprreciated0 -
A lot of people have had good results by phoning RBS, so its worth a try before starting the next step.0

I personally don't like dealing with banks over the phone as you can never prove what they have said and they have a tendancy to say they have no record of the call.
However, as Edinburghlass said a lot of people have had good experience by phoning them as well0 -

Just off the phone to the RBS and they said "we have a backlog of claims and we have within 8 weeks to make you an offer from the letter of acknowledgement" (which i received today) so im gonna wait 6 working days and that will be the end of their 14 days to pay my money back and i will then move to the court letter. As my claim is over £750 am i best to make to seperate claims my total is £1,223? The woman i spoke tosid i should receive an offer by 7th of May but im pressing on.Sticking to my timetable and not theirs0 -

Definately don't listen to their timescales - they would have you waiting months if they thought they could get away with it
You've made them aware in your letter how long they have to reply so just stick with that.
Good luck0 -
I recieved my statements today, wrote my letter and posting it tomorrow, asking for £2800. We shall see how long they keep me waiting on this one.
My £10 cheque was never taken from my account, they reckon they never got it, I phoned up complaining that they were well over there time scale and were basically taking "the !!!!", they ended up phoning head office then phoning me back to say they could debit the tenner straight from my account, I accepted but first cancelled my supposedly lost cheque.
If anyone else has this problem get them to debit it out of your account only if they are out of their timescale.0 -
I sent my letter of requesting 6 years of bank statements. I included my cheque for £10.00.
A week later I received my letter and cheque back along with a covering letter headed ' Data Protection Act - Subject Access Request, saying the charge for this service is £5.00
I will resend my letter and new cheque, but has anyone else come across this?
Thanks
RC
I should add this is Royal Bank of Scotland0
