I have today received a letter from RBS asking me to stop court proceedings and they have sent me a cheque for £901.72 !!!! they initially offered me £311 but I decided to go all the way.

This is from a closed bank account that I do not use anymore

thanks to everyone on this board for the help, advice and at times tolerance !

    Hi

Please could anyone advise me what to do. I am in the middle of chaiming back my bank charges from the Halifax.

I received a letter from them saying that they would repond to me within 4 to 8 weeks. I then sent off the last letter asking them to pay up in 14 days or I will issue court actions against them. On Thursday I received a letter back from them stating that they would respond to me no later than the 3rd May 2007. I really dont know what to do as I really dont want to go to court. But if thats what is takes for me to get the money back then so be it.

Please could anyone advise me whether I should wait for there response or do ahead with court action.

    Thank you in advance

Proceed with the claim once your time specified has expired.

carry on regardless of what they say, I have just issued a court summons to them. They are clearly just buying time they tried it on with me saying they needed thaT much time when they didnt realise they already had the first letter 10 weeks I they then denied getting the first letter. Even though I had a signature from royal mail delivery.
  • Hi there

I wrote to RBS (Mint) last week asking for £652 from charges over the last 6 years. I received a letter today offering me £188, for what they say is the difference between the £12 charges, and the charges I was charged, with interest. They say this is their final offer and if I dont agree, I should contact the financial ombudsman.

Any thoughts on this? I dont think I should accept - but should I just continue onto MCOL, or should i contact the ombudsman as they suggest?

    thanks!

Stick to your time plan, anything the banks do is to benefit them do what you have to do next letter to be sent after the 14 days are up.

I have the RBS's head office address, but unsure who to address it to so that it goes directly to the correct department.

I'm going to send it recorded also so I know it will reach them!

    Thanks

I got a letter back in 9 days from my first letter, offering slightly more than the amount of charges, but minus the interest. I sent the acception form back a week and a half ago, the letter said they would immediately pay the money into my account, still no funds, what is the next step?
How long does it normally take to get hold of the money?
