Surely not as you're actually paying for a service/privelages.

Sorry, but no. It's only charges for unauthorised payments, bounced cheques etc. that you can claim back, not monthly charges for normal account administration.

There's a list of what you can and can't claim here

    Hi

We are trying to claim from Halifax. around £2,200 - sent 1st letter got standard reply that it would take 8 weeks, checked on the forum whether to wait or send 2nd letter- decided to send 2nd letter as Martin stated that they were to work to OUR time scale not theirs. We have now received an offer of £1,700 - 500 less that claimed for but all i can say is at least we have been made this offer within 28 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Need to decide whether to accept or press for larger sum and go to court. Good luck and keep trying.

Read Marins article, your getting back £1700 which is a plus in anyones view. If you want to go for the £2200, then continue with what you've been doing.

The choice is yours not anyone on here, in the end ifs your money coming back, how much is up to you.

  • Hi all, my first post here, cant thank the site enough for the help so far...

I've currently sent my letter of request to Barclays, and they did return within 14 days, but their return basically says that we are dealing with your letter and will reply within the next 3 weeks.

Are they allowed to do this? should I do anything?

    Thanks

Stick to your timetable and please read the FAQ in the Reclaim Charges Help thread in my signature.
