Hi, i sent letter off to hsbc asking them for a full refund of all my charges over the last 6 years and gave them 14 days to get back to me.They replied with a letter saying they would investigate this and told me to read the leaflet enclosed which said that they had upto 8 weeks to look into the matter.I stuck to the 14 days and then sent them the letter threaterning them with court action and gave them 2 weeks to respond,Yesterday i recieved the exact same letter saying they would investigate and again enclosed leaflet saying they had 8 weeks to reply.Does anyone know what my next step should be.I would be very grateful for advice.

Everything has gone smoothly with statements etc,
Until today !!!
Has anyone received a letter saying under complaint handling rules
set by there regulator the financial services authority gives them 8 weeks
to respond to complaints. however they will respond in 4 weeks to tell us of
there progress.
Can anyone help with a follow up letter or as anyone had anything simliar
Don't panic, I received this letter on 20th march but sent the next letter giving them a further 14 days to settle or i would take court action on 28th March, today i received a letter offering a partial settlement I gave them a call and negotiated full settlement without interest. Stick to your time scale and good luck.0 -

If the 14 days are up, file a claim.0 -

Hi
Any info would be great. Recently started the ball rolling on reclaiming my bank charges from RBS and it would seem that they have thrown their toys out the pram. 1 week after sending 1st letter I received a letter telling me that my loan account was £13.78dr, to date I have missed no payments. I have been paying my loan by cheque from Bank of Scotland account for the last 27 months. Posted my March payment and as of today cheque has still not been cashed. They have now sent formal notice of default against the account which I am not phased by as I am in a position to settle loan if required. The problem I have is that, the charges I am reclaiming are included in this loan. I was hoping that I would be able get my loan reduced to the correct level, as I would not have had to borrow an extra £5k due to bank charges. my loan would have been for £15k and not £20k Any Help.0 -
Hello,
I hope you can help, i have been following Martins tips on recliaming my bank charges and using the template letters off of the website.
I am actually on stage 4 where they did not respond to my first letter requesting the charges so i sent the next stage advising that i would take them to a small claims court if they do not reply within 7 days.
I have received a letter from them advising that their rules set out by the Regulator of The Financial Services Authority gives them 8 weeks to respond and investigate.
Can you advise if this is correct or do they have to stick to the 7 or 14 days that we set out in the template letter. If the latter is correct is their a template letter that i can use rejecting the 8 weeks.
I hope you can help, and look forward to hearing from you, the bank that i am claiming my charges back from is the Halifax Plc.
Thank you again.
Kind regards0 -
Stick to YOUR deadlines/timescale. Its a delay tactic by them, I have received the same letter, I again informed them that I was NOT satisfied with their response and that within 14 days if they fail to resolve the issue I WILL procede with a Court Claim. I suggest you do the same, the 7 or 14 days is up to you. They did reply again stating that I'd have an answer by 1st May 07 but I'll just claim away using the courts to hurry up the process."I AM THE GATEKEEPER OF MY OWN DESTINY" Nacho Libre

I have sent off my first letter to get the charges back and the 14 days in which they have to reply are up tomorrow. I still have not heard anything, I will give them until after the Easter break, but if I still hear nothing then what do I do?0

I don't know if this will help anyone but ...
I have just spent over 10 mins on hold/ in conversation to RBS trying to check if they have received my "final settlement of complaint" letter as it has been 10 days since they should have got it and if other people's stories on here are anything to go by I was expecting my money to have reappeared in my account by now.
I was told that I had to wait 14 working days for the money to go into my a/c and also they were unable to check if my letter had been received within those 14 days. I tried on a number of occasions during the conversation to give my reference number, but had no luck - wait 14 days was their mantra!!
(apparently the disembodied voice on the phone is also unable to tell from the computer if the money has gone back into a/c yet - how do they keep track of these things..?)
So my advice (FWIW) if you have not got your money yet save yourself some phonecall money and don't call RBS til 14 days are up as they are not interested before then.
It's only a game
