The Coop coughed up for both of my accounts without any fuss, they deducted all the interest and some of the lower charges - but cheques were sent within the two week period given!
Cahoot credit card coughed up too - but then, the charge for Cahoot was only £32!!

            Smile was a doddle.
Sent a polite secure message requesting charges back from last summer totalling £335 (couldn't be bother going back further than my online statements showed....)
One month later - after I sent them a polite reminder that I hadn't heard from them - they credited my account with £640 as a goodwill gesture! Pennies make pounds. Pennies make pounds.

Hi, I recently wrote to the Halifax regarding bank charges and they were very quick to respond, even sending me my £10.00 cheque back. I then sent the details of the charges and they replied as follows, quote "Please note the complaint handling rules set out by our regulator, the Financial Services Authority, gives us 8 weeks to investigate and respond with complaints" unquote, is this so or are they just wasting time? anyone have the answer please.0

I have received a letter from the HALIFAX stating that they are sorry to learn that i'm unhappy with my bank charges and they will 'investigate' my complaint. They state this will take up to 8 weeks! Should i write back that this is to long and stipulate a time for response. Are they just stalling for time? as the complaints/claims must be flooding in. Any advice would be gratefully received. cheers0

The 4/8 weeks response time is a standard letter from most of the banks now however you need to follow your timescale and if you haven't had a satisfactory reply in your 14 days timescale, send off your letter before action on the 15th day. As above for the link for Halifax questions.0

I'd give them a phone and ask - don't want any delays in getting your cash - well done!!0
