Hi
I am currently trying to reclaim bank charges and have a few questions as I have not done this before. I have had a respinse to my first letter (must admit was forever going overdrawn and charges are 1,1400 in total). This response is by halifax and it says thank you for recent complaint regarding charges, please note we have 8 weeks to investigate and to respond,...if for any reason we are unable to respond we will notify you within four weeks, and here is a copy of our complaint booklet. Is this normal? Should I go ahead with sending second letter? In addition I have a main account with a building society and wondered if the bank charges rules applied to them, I assume so, yet I hasve never read any postings of people challenging them. I would be grateful if anyone can advise me, thank you0 -
This is a standard holding letter put out by all the banks, you carry on with your next letter after your first 14 days are up.0

I would guess that the bank would close all your current bank accounts. Open a new bank account with anyone as soon as you can. Don't worry if they do not yet provide you with an overdraft facility yet. because RBS will not ask you to close you account until after a decision has been made. Hopefully you will have your money back and not need an overdraft for a while.
This is only an educated guess, hopefully someone else will post who has some more experience of this then myself.
Good luck to you Micky_Bhoy79Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
I haven't seen any cases of RBS closing accounts but you do have to be aware this can happen.
Make sure you don't claim the Royalties charges on that account as these can't be claimed.
RBS can be one of the easiest banks to get a fairly speedy and painless result from for most people.0 -

just received letter of the bank telling me they have 8 weeks to investigate what do i do now HELP0

Personally I'm only with Royal Bank of Scotland and sent the letter requesting my money back and been offered it back without even sending the "Threat of Court Letter", although when I've read other peoples banks defending themselves I've felt RBS have been almost "helpful" and "easy" to deal with during this time.
Anyone else found RBS helpful and easy to claim back against?[STRIKE] Quick Quid[/STRIKE]

The Royal Bank of Scotland which owns Natwest are the bank that is paying up the quickest at the moment. They are settling after the prelim or the LBA.the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk0

NatWest have just paid me charges and intrest, over £4000 and again only request letter needed. Think they're probably snowed under and just paying out. And boy oh boy am i happy.:money: :money:Time, Tide and Diarrhoea wait for no man.0
