hi well i need advice on what to do next.
i sent my first letter asking for all charges to be repaid along with the intrest and the halifax has replied with
we are sorry to lean that you are unhappy with the charges debited to your bank account. please note the complaint handling rules set by our regulator, the financial services authority, gives us 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints.
our commitment to you is that we will respond to your concerns at the earliest possible opportunity. however we want to ensure the issue you raised are thoroughly investigated. if, for any reason, we are unable to respond fully to your concers within the next 4 weeks we will write to update you of our progress.
this sounds like a fob off letter to buy them more time, what should my responce to them be as i did give them 14 days to respond in full to my letter.
any help on what to send back would be great, thanks!!!!!!0 -
You move on to your next letter in your timescale, this is a standard letter that the banks are issuing.0

Hi,
I used to have 3 credit cards with RBS, Mint and Tesco who are all part of the RBS. I received 3 letters today from each saying all the same thing.
My issue is from 2001 to 2003 and the late payment fees range from £10 from RBS and £15 to £20 from the other 2.
They say they don't accept the findings from the OFT on 5th Apr 2006. The charges they applied which I agreed when opening the account are indeed a non-compliance of the conditions of agreement, which were not met which subsequently affect the charges in my account.
So basically I am stuffed, or am I? Is this a standard letter from these people as I am claiming back £1007 over 3 cards. I am in a DMP with them and have paid promptly over the last 3 years. My DMP company said that it will not affect the arrangement as many clients have successfuly reclaimed money back which just goes to reduce the overall dept.
Would appreciate your feedback please.
Many thanks.0 -
Abbey have responded to my first letter saying they're investigating, and will be in touch within the next 4 weeks (letter dated 3 March).
My question is, do I wait for the 4 weeks to elapse from the date of the letter before sending the second letter??
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, it would take hours to plough through all the threads.

Last week I sent Abbey a claim giving them 14 days to respond, they HAVE responded by telling me they will need to do a thorough investigation which will take 4 weeks. Where do I stand with this? Can I tell them to hurry things along or am I obliged to hold out...... Ruth
The way I (and many others see it) Ruth is like this......
Role reverse the situation and say it was your bank demanding money of you..........
They wouldn't be giving you 4 weeks let alone 8 to cough up the cash......and you simply couldn't ring them and say you'll get it when I'm ready... they would have no hesistation in sending in the baliffs or threatening court action etc
I'm waiting until I get my letter saying that they are investigating my claims/we need 8 weeks and EXACTLY 14days from that I will be filing the court claim!0 -

These are absolutely standard letters and are classic examples of them trying to put you off. Remember if they can get rid of you at this stage, their letters have done the trick and they've saved themselve a few quid!
It sounds like you've already started the process, so just carry on as described in Martin's article.
Don't let them push you about and put you off!!
Good luck......

Okay so i wrote the first letter asking for a list of charges
but they sent me all my bank statements for the past 6 years so i went through them all, and found that i have been charged around £300, should i claim?
I am on a graduate royal bank account and is still using the overdraft facility, however now that im on a full time salary surely they would not close my account if i go for it?
My question is: SHOULD I GO FOR IT?!0 -
RBS seem to be one of the easiest banks to be reclaiming from at the moment with loads of success stories and I don't remember any stories of accounts being closed so yes, go for it.0
-
getting bored of waiting now, still don't know what I am entitled back, no statements yet and no letters from rbs.
Should I write this second letter?
got a feeling they are ignoring me, with living abroad we are charged all the time.0
