If I were you I'd get the second letter off to them today, telling them they have seven days in which to reply, and see what happens.0 -

at one point i was being charged £28 a month every month for a good 2 years, but i didn't have any money to sort it out
im expecting my charges to be at least £2000.....i just hope they reply to my letter!
i can't wait for a letter from the bank, any other time i dread letters from the bank, cos they're usually letters askin me to ring the customer lending centre :rotfl:
onwards and upwards!
I was the same as this - getting charged £28 every month along with £30 charges every week or more! Once you get into that cycle its hard to get out of it but I claimed mine back (it was with Halifax)!
Good luck to you - keep us up-dated0 -
Last week I sent Abbey a claim giving them 14 days to respond, they HAVE responded by telling me they will need to do a thorough investigation which will take 4 weeks. Where do I stand with this? Can I tell them to hurry things along or am I obliged to hold out...... Ruth0

As you can see, most of the banks are giving this 4/8 weeks but you should stick to your timetable and if you don't hear again, send out your next letter.0

Well I finally did it last night I went to Moneyclaim online to get my money back from HSBC! I hear what everyone is saying about due to the numbers claiming but lets be honest they are not small businesses they can employ more staff if they are struggling, it's not as if they aren't rolling in it already!
Call me suspicious but it sounds like everyone is being told 8 weeks do the banks already know when the OFT will make the long awaited announcement.0 -
To be fair is it reasonable to expect the banks to reply in the deadlines we are setting them when it is obvious there are a lot of people sending letters and trying to claim back charges, that's bound to have a knock on effect on the time it takes them to process all these claims. I'm not defending them purposely stalling for time but some of the timescales these letters allow do seem a bit harsh.
My usual response to this is, how much leniancy did the bank give you over these charges?0
