Well better safe than sorry :-)0 -

I spoke to my RBS branch today about requesting my 6 year statement of charges, and the girl told me I would have to ask for this in writing. Is this normal?
ps Good move on all that've got some money back!!
Yes its normal as you are asking for information under the DPA. If you just ask for statements at your branch or on the phone they are entitled to charge you per statement.0 -
ahh I see.... when I spoke to the people on the phone (2 different branches) they worked out without me saying I was claiming back charges that this is what the 6 years worth of statements were for. I didn't mention the data protection act in my letter..... ooops should I have?
Nice to see rbs doesn't seem to have closed anyones accounts too (after trawling through this thread AND the 'closing accounts' thread)Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 784 - Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

I have two Q's one is a bit stupid. I am using the HMSC online service. It is for a joint account - presumably I put both our forenames in the on line application, even though the form is for an individual?
The second Q is a bit more interesting. All the famiuy bank with RBOS. We are spearheading the action by claiming for ourselves first and are in the process of obtaining the statements for the children. Has anyone claimed as a class action, rather than as an individual? If so can they explain the difference in process to an individual claim?
To answer my own question. If you are using the HMSC online service for a joint account, then both names go in the "individual forenames" box.
No-one seems to have tried a class action (apply on behalf of all family members at the same time). The court help-line thought it would be a good idea as it would save court time, but suggested taking legal advice. Rather than complicate things we'll do them separately, but interested if anyone else tried this?0 -
My 2 weeks for a reply is up on Tuesday, i will be sending out the 2nd letter on tuesday night but a little bit confused as to where to send it? i read a few pages back that the RBS has opened up a division to deal with these bank charge claims so should i send it there? or send the 2nd letter to my branch again?
i just called up the 0800 number and was informed that they are unable to get into the system (is there that many people claiming that we have crashed it!?) and they will call me back tomorrow with an update.
i have a funny feeling that if/when they do call me back i am going to get told i have to wait 8 weeks or something stupid like that, so should i bother or not to send the 2nd letter on tuesday night?!
Confused.....
