  • Does any one know the new address for the department set up to claim the charges? I know i read it on one of these threads and now i can't find it. That way i'll know i've sent it to the right place and that they don't waste time redirecting it, i'm sure the thread i read said it wasn't st Andrews Sq

I'm new to this and i can't seem to keep track of what i've read on posted on, is there anyway to make threads hot links for individual users?

    Thanks in advance

    Yes you can .
the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk
  • Over Xmas we ran over an agreed overdraft facility on our Business Account with RBS, by about £100 but by the time we sorted it, mid Jan, we had incurred £750 of charges. We'd read about this before, so went straight to letter 1, and sent it out. 2 days later got a letter back saying they'd be looking at it. 5 days later, full payment in refund of the £750. Of course we got the standard letter with it, no liability, in line with our standard proceedure etc....but they are obviously running scared. Hit them and hit them hard folks...everything to win.
  • To answer my own question. If you are using the HMSC online service for a joint account, then both names go in the "individual forenames" box.

No-one seems to have tried a class action (apply on behalf of all family members at the same time). The court help-line thought it would be a good idea as it would save court time, but suggested taking legal advice. Rather than complicate things we'll do them separately, but interested if anyone else tried this?

This is an update for anyone claiming on a joint account. The above response came from a telephone call to the Claims OnlineHelpline. This response is different and by email:

    Dear Mr XXXXX,
Please ensure your name, as the initiator of the claim, is the only name entered as the claimant, as any claim should be issued by an individual.

  • Hello. Can someone please help? I'm claiming my charges back from the RBS. I'm english, live in england and my branch is in england but i heard you had to put in the defendants head office details which are in scotland. Therefore does this come under the 6 year English small claims law or the scottish 5 year law. Obviously i'm praying i can do this through the english court system.
  • I have been inspired by this site.
got statemnets for two accounts and was shocked ot see £4360 of charges.
spoken with staff at head office and local branch both very helpful and seem to be exspecting this sort of action from us, any way first letter went to branch yesterday recorded delivery.
    will keeep you informed

    Hi

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I have been looking through and can't find anything on it.

I have my mortgage with the RBS its a Virgin One account and it is also my current account. In Novemeber we were having money troubles and we kept the bank informed but they still charged us in 30days £552 in bank charges, in a total of 3 months we have been charged £1200+ in charges! we spoke to them and said that this was a unfair amount and that they were just adding to our financial situation, they said they would look into it, and of course said it was our own faults and that they would not refund them.

We have asked for the details of the bank charges, but they have only given us statements for the last 2 years, But have found that with online banking I can filter the results and get the rest myself.

My concern is, that because this account is tied in with our mortgage where do we stand with them? if they try to close the account do we lose our house? We are not in a position to change our mortgage in our current financial situation so we feel like they have us over a barrel.

Has anyone else tried to reclaim their charges from RBS? and been sucessful with it effecting the mortgage??

    Any advice would be appreciated
:) If you like what I say please say thanks :)
