am new to this thread. i sent off my letter to rbs just over 2 weeks ago and have had no reply at all, i decided to ring them and ask why they had not responded. their reply was that they are allowed up to 6-8 weeeks to deal with these claims and consumer direct have informed them this. they said i would get a reply on the 17th april. does anyone know if this is right, or should i send out the court letter now. thanks0

hi everyone
i have just been reading through some these posting
early feb i sent my 1st letter off to thr rbos got the statments worked out chages £2230.00 with interest about £3000.00
i then sent letter asking for my money back with 2 spread sheets
1. being money they had taken without interest
2. and with the interest
advised them i only wanted cthe money that was mine
yesterday i phoned 28.02.07 asked if they had received my letter they as i have just read said there computer system was down and that they would get back to me.
which i took as fair enough as this can happen but i beleave this is normal as i have read this twice
they then called me back today saying that my letter had ben recievied and that a offer has been sent to me should recevie this tomorrow 02.03.07
i now wish i asked what the amount was there and then reading a further posting saying they were happy to tell them over the phone
i have now found the 0800 number and will call them direct

Hello everybody, a little help needed for a newbie from one of you more experienced reclaimers. I sent the RBS my first letter on the 5th Feb requesting the £5 900 (including statutory interest) that they owe me. I received a prompt reply from the Customer Services Unit dated 9th Feb stating "we are currently considering your claim and will respond to you as soon as possible". Included is a contact name and a direct dial number. I've heard nothing more since. What I want to know is should I now contact them via the phone number or simply send off my second letter threatening court action? Any advice would be greatly appreciated0

Thanks very much0 -
is this right that i should wait that long till they get back to me for my claim. i sent out the letter stating that they have 14 days to get back to me. after the 14 days were up i decided to ring them and they tell me that the consumer direct have advised them that they can have up to 6 - 8 weeks to deal with claims and the earliest i will be looking at is the 17th april, does anyone know if this is right. thanks0

no it isnt, just continue with the next letter0

As "jamiem" states carry on with your next letter. After their 7 days, ring them then. If no joy, claim through court. I bet that you get an offer letter either after your 2nd letter or after court claim.
A 14 day letter is a 14 day letter - not a 6-8 week letter!!!!!
The banks are waiting to see what we do, my offer letter came from natwest dated 19th Jan, received on 9th Feb and they acknowledged claim on 8th feb. The date of the postmark on the envelope was 8th feb. So needless to say i wrote to decline and told them "too little too late". They will now have to settle at the amount + int + court claim.
Good luck:rotfl:"Penny Pinching Winch"
