Mr_Nice wrote:Hello everybody, a little help needed for a newbie from one of you more experienced reclaimers. I sent the RBS my first letter on the 5th Feb requesting the £5 900 (including statutory interest) that they owe me. I received a prompt reply from the Customer Services Unit dated 9th Feb stating "we are currently considering your claim and will respond to you as soon as possible". Included is a contact name and a direct dial number. I've heard nothing more since. What I want to know is should I now contact them via the phone number or simply send off my second letter threatening court action? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I have been looking through and can't find anything on it.
I have my mortgage with the RBS its a Virgin One account and it is also my current account. In Novemeber we were having money troubles and we kept the bank informed but they still charged us in 30days £552 in bank charges, in a total of 3 months we have been charged £1200+ in charges! we spoke to them and said that this was a unfair amount and that they were just adding to our financial situation, they said they would look into it, and of course said it was our own faults and that they would not refund them.
We have asked for the details of the bank charges, but they have only given us statements for the last 2 years, But have found that with online banking I can filter the results and get the rest myself.
My concern is, that because this account is tied in with our mortgage where do we stand with them? if they try to close the account do we lose our house? We are not in a position to change our mortgage in our current financial situation so we feel like they have us over a barrel.
Has anyone else tried to reclaim their charges from RBS? and been sucessful with it effecting the mortgage??
Any advice would be appreciated
They cant change your morgage or close the account!!:p0 -

Hello there - good news! Got my reply from mthe RBS this morning after sending my initial letter. They've agreed to pay up in full - £5 832 (including interest) so stick at it and thanks to everyone on here who's posts have helped me out. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!:beer:0 -
Sorry folks Rbs have proved there one of the better banks out there everyone i know with the Rbs have got everything they asked for back no messin about no closing accounts etc
...Am the first to admit there customer service skills can be rock bottom @ times saying that i have lost count of the amount of compensation & bottles of wine i have had back of them as a result of poor customer service so cant really complain0 -
Hi peeps,
I am asking for £4,080 including interest and received their first offer of £2,070. I gave them a call as per the letter and they said it was non-negotiable and the next step was for me to officially decline and then take it to court if I wish.
Is there any point sending a letter refusing and giving them a further 14 days to respond? Just concerned that if they take 2 weeks to reply refusing more money, I will then have to start court proceedings which they have 14 days to respond to and that could take it in to april, which coincides with all of those new rulings etc.
Or I could call them and officially refuse the offer and state that I will start court proceedings now unless they meet me half way. (I want £3,000 back). That way if they refuse I can start proceedings today saving 14 days.

hey,
I have a student account with the royal bank of scotland, and it clearly says this at the top of my monthly statements. "STUDENT ROYALTIES ACCOUNT"
I get charged £35 for going over my £500 overdraft and also get charged £28 plus interest almost every month.
Seeing as this is a student account I understand why im getting charged the £35 charges, but I dont understand how im getting charged this £28 and also interest seeing as this account is MEANT to be interest and charge free.
can anyone help me? can i reclaim this money and also get it sorted out for the future?Stingey Student!
April Ebay Challenge - £61.77/£1000 -
I sent two separate claims to RBS two weeks ago today. For one account I asked for £605 and for my other account I asked for £142.
Got a letter today saying they disagree with my letter but as a gesture of goodwill they are willing to offer me a gesture of goodwill of £142 (this relates to the second account...not mentioned the first since the letters were sent to separate branches).
Delighted with the outcome of this, since they are refunding exactly what I asked for. Has everyone received the same story...ie. gesture of goodwill?
PS.A friend of mine got £1000 back from the Bank of Scotland today...was claiming £1200 and was offered £550. He refused and said he'd be willing to take £1000.0 -
So just to give you an update.
Claimed for £1532.50.
RBS offered goodwil gesture £1492.50
I declined the offer and said i will take them to court. Issued the letters and appointed MCOL to act on my behalf. And if you seriously think i did that then you must be a turd because id be the same if i declined that. Off course i said yes and accepted the offer. The process for me was smooth. Not everything went along the timeline but we got there in the end, slowly but surely. I will scan the letters and show you how they worded it. Muchas Gracias.0
