  • Relax it out guys,

Its easy to get upset at the bank.

You will get a more respectful response to a respectful approach.

Regarding the conversation i had with RBS, they do not seem to have a problem paying out what they owe so long your not going to be an a$$ clown about it. Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself.

If RBS made a mistake by taking a fiver from you then i am sure when you explain it to them, they will be happy to refund you buddy.

Try not to get tough. Remember this is a lawful procedure therefore on the the balance of probability you will be treated fairly and paid what is owed.

If you start huffing and puffing, your approach will do you no favours other than make you an author of your own misfortune.

I just got stabbed in the heart by cupid, hola hola. haha

    Well said :T
  • I have really been inspired by this thread and have added up my charges tonight (like a saddo I have kept all my bank statements as I have never trusted RBS) and plan to send the letter tomorrow. I will let you know how I get on.

We have a business account with RBS and since we started they have had £17,000 in charges. The company went through a bad patch and is in recovery at the moment. Some of the charges are Chaps (same day payment charges) so I am not sure if we can claim. I think they are excessive. Problem is I think RBS will close our account and I know that we can't find another bank to take us on till the next set of management accounts. Has anyone taken them on in a similar position and had their account kept open or had it closed?

    Thanks for any advice
  • Hi,

I have found this thread really helpful and hoping someone could answer a query i have?

I am hoping to claim about £500 in charges from RBS using Martin's template letter. However what's worrying me is that I also have a personal loan with RBS which still has about £10k outstanding. I've heard that they often close bank accounts when/if they refund money which I could deal with but if there is any chance at all that they would want to 'close' my loan too and demand the money outstanding there's no way i should proceed as i wouldn;t be able to pay the loan back. Can anyone advise on this?

    Thanks!!
  • Your loan is a different agreement and shouldn't be affected.
  • Hello all

I'm just starting the claiming process to receive £656 from my RBS graduate acount. (i have lots of credit/store cards too, but one at a time i think?)

Is it likely they will close my account and how will that affect my £2000 o'draft? I can't afford to clear it but i I am starting to pay it off by £100 a month

Where do i send my 1st letter to, my branch or HQ? Can anyone give me the address?

So many questions and I just don't know where to start

thanks for your reply, it;s reassuring but just need to muster courage as 'shouldn't be affected' still leaves room for a chance that it will, however slight the chance is!

i'd be grateful to hear from anyone who's been through the reclaim and still set up with loan with same bank.

    cheers :-)
  • Thanks Edinburghlass I can see that u are the star helper with the claiming info. Think its great that u are helping people out and hopefully i'll become a success story to help people too.
  • Thanks Tongs My letter will be sent today and im hopeful of a quick and full payout

Also i have bad credit score and RBS said i'd be refussed another switch account, however i followed edinburghlass' links and i've applied to citibank as they appear to be most likely to give people like me accounts.

I would be lost without my switch and to be honest feel rather belittled that i don't qualify for one.

I am to hear from citibank within the next 3-5 days

    Goodluck for ur claim
