Donfor - well done on getting your dosh and thanks for sharing your experience.
I've a 'We're considering your claim' letter dated 7th May and I think I'll hold out the 8 weeks and wait for an offer. I'm a tad disappointed that most folks seem to be getting offered their chargers minus interest. If you send a second letter stating that you will give them 14 days to make an offer or else you'll take court action will you get offered the full amount (charges + interest). Is it worth sending the second letter or is it worth just holding out for the 8 weeks. I may be lazy and just hold out, but has anyone any experience of success with the second letter?

I waited the 8 weeks - never sent the 14 day court letter - and they replied one day before the date they quoted on theri letter.
I did add the interest but they are only obliged to pay this if it goes to court and you win. the offers seem to be between 75 and 66 percent of what is asked for. I accepted the figure they offered as it was money I never expected to see again and it has cleared another debt.
    Good luck
    Elaine

    Hello,

I read with dismay Leona78's message about maintenance charges. I was intending to claim hundreds of pounds from a student/graduate royalties account as I've been charged a maintenance charge of £28.00 a month for approximately the last 3 years (as well as the same amount again in interest  )

Is there no way I can reclaim these, £28.00 a months seems a lot

    Thanks Jen x

    Hey All,

Just off the phone to customer relations at RBS, they received my claim on the 26/04/07, and was for two accounts....£470.26 on one, £2058.26 on the other.

They told me over the phone that within the next two weeks they will be offering the full £470.26 on the first account, but only £1133 on the second account. I am probably going to accept this offer, as I included monthly overdraft interest. I also received 6 years worth of statements, which I claimed for, I believe as I am in Scotland I can only claim 5 years.
So all in all the offer seems pretty reasonable.

    What do you think?

I would like to thank everyone who has posted helpful information, I have used it as a point of reference for the past few weeks. :)

Good Luck to all claiming, i'll post when the money hits my account to give an idea of time scale.

    Regards

    Hi all,

Finally had response from RBS offering to settle, albeit not the full amount. Given that my claim was only tiny at £103.75 I am inclined to take their offer, which is £88, the amount of charges they levied on my account some 2years ago. They obviously don't believe that I am entitled to ask for the interest. However, yet again, they are claiming that their bank charges are fair and that they represent a service charge and do not represent penalties or charges for default. They obviously know more than we do, as I don't see this as a service charge at all!!!
  • How long do they take to pay up after issuing offer/acceptance letter??
