Re: Mevthebank - LISA question
Don't worry, the closest i've got to hearing from RBS is from their solicitors. I've been through the MCOL process and have submitted my Allocation Questionaire to my local county court (not all judges will ask for one) and im now waiting on a court date which i have been told will be in 1 or 2 weeks from now! Just stick to the process/time scales.0 -
Hi All
I have been informed that the RBS are snowed under with claims. Stick to the time scale set out in the template letters on this site and you should get a result.
Good Luck.
We have sent of letters for 2 accounts (my sole one - £2500 exc. interest and our joint - £5000 exc. interest) requesting charges back and received the usual 'looking into your claim response' and we are still waiting for my wife's sole account details to be sent back so that we can request those charges back. I was shocked at the amount as I thought it would be around £1500 so after reading the success stories thought what the heck. Anyway, from what I can gather from reading the various posts, RBS are paying out the full amounts if you give them the 6-7 weeks they ask for but are ignoring any court action as a whole. I spoke to someone at RBS who said that the FSA had given the banks 8 weeks to reply to each case - how true that is who knows? I'm going to wait the 6-7 weeeks they asked for and then go down the court route as it seems if you are reasonable with them, they will be likewise. Will keep posted on what happens.0 -

Sorry to complicate your decision, but my experience is as follows....
I had two claims with RBS, one just under £1,000 and the other £2,500. I wrote 2 letters before action and got no reply to either of them, in both cases giving them more time than I had offered in my letters. I filed a claim for both, they acknowledged both and made an offer for both (about 10% less than the claim without interest or court fees). 2 days later I received a cheque for the lesser claim for the entire amount.
The larger claim is a different matter, they have filed a defence and I am in the process of replying to their request for more details.
Based on my experience it would seem that two departments are not talking to each other. One is issuing offers probably from my letters before court action and the other is dealing with court side of things. The difference in response on the court side is probably down to the value I guess.
I hope this helps.0 -
We claimed for £2,300 were offered £1,800 and we will accept it
Question is how long before the money goes into our account,we have just sent the letter back today.
But very impressed with the way RBS no probs:D0 -
Hi Guys
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but just wanted a bit of advice on the steps before issuing a court warning.
I sent my first letter and got my previous statements from RBS back in March.
Then I sent another letter 4th April saying how much I was reclaiming + Interest, to which they replied two weeks later saying they were looking into.
I then sent another letter May 14th saying that they must settle with the full amount or else I will be taking them to court to reclaim this sum, and they have 14 days in which to respond.
It has now been over 20 days and they haven't responded, so now I must do as I say and follow the procedure to take them to court............. Only thing is, I currently can't afford the £120 (I think) to do so.
So, does anybody have any advice on whether or not calling them up and giving them '1 last chance' is any use?
Also, RBS seem to pass me round the houses when I have previously phoned to ask them about the charges and I never end up speaking to the person I need:mad: , so does anybody know the number I should be calling to take this up with???
Any advice much appreciated!

I went to the original thread with the list of all the steps ie: where to send the 1st & 2nd letter and it gives this address.
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND PLC
36 ST ANDREW SQUARE
EDINBURGH
EH2 2YB
or
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND PLC
RBS Litigation
1 Princess Street
London EC2R 8PB
which I would have thought means you can send to either!??!
from this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=400981
Just to clarify, the first address you gave was the Data Protection Address in the first post of the above thread where you send for info/statements. The two addresses for RBS in the next post are the registered address for litigation, the London one being for claimants in England/Wales.0 -

If you read back on other user's experiences, most had found RBS easy to deal with on the phone, not to say this will happen in every case though.0 -
Thanks Edinburghlass
I also tried e mailing them first thing this morning, and received an email back within minutes from them saying the following:
Thank you for your e-mail.
I can confirm that the process to send out our offer letter, commenced
yesterday. As a result, you should have this in your hands within a
week.
Regards
Sandy Watt
Hopefully I wont have to do the 'Irrate phone customer' thing if the offer is OK.
Ideally i'd get the full amount + interest, but worst case might settle for it without interest.
Keep you updated (getting excited at the thought of paying off 11 year overdraught!):j0 -
'Kells Bell' - What was the address that you sent your email to?
I'm at the 'We're considering your claim' stage and I would like to know how my claim's progressing?
Thanks,

My flatmate has decided to reclaim her charges from RBS but she doesn't have a cheque book for the £10 for the list of charges - She asked if her flatemate can sign the cheque and add a note on the letter stating permission for her to pay this???
Do you think this will be acceptable?
I'm also reclaiming from RBS Credit Card - will they make me pay back the whole balance?
