People tend to go to see mediums/psychics/Tarot card readers etc, if they have either suffered a bereavement or they have trouble with their love life.

It's usually women of a "certain age" who see these people, there's a good chance that one of both of their parents have died or else their marriage is failing/failed or they are childless and unhappy about it.

Younger women who seek the advice of such people tend to do so after a bereavement, usually of a close relative or parent, which is often unexpected (sudden heart attack, car accident etc). I don't think that I know anyone who has gone to see a psychic unless they have had a recent bereavement, why else would you want to contact the "spirits"? It's not too hard, with a bit of experience, to get punters to reveal details of themselves, especially if they are already feeling vunerable, sad, scared or lonely.

These so-called "experts", with their "gifts" are a bunch of shysters, the only gift they possess it that of wrenching money from the gullible. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

  • Well i've been to a few readings - I dont give anything away (always answer yes or no) and to be honest the ones i have seen are really good. I will admit I have seen a few and gone away thinking "FAKE!!"

I don't buy the ones that predict the future. It's suggesting that it is a fate already sealed, passing off responsibility for our choices and the consequences. Bull crap.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

True - but the things I have been told were not things that even I knew until a later date and were very specific (not a "ooo there's a baby on the way in your family/friends/neighbours aunty/uncle's dog" etc)

Its obviously personal choice on what you choose to believe

Yea, thats what I don't get. They told my step-daughter things and came up with names that were not not usual in this country. If it is a con I would really love to know how they did it. Thats one of the reasons I think I might go and see the one she did. I don't want to contact anyone just want to see what they come up with.

i've had loads of readings over the years, majority of them just for a laugh, girls night out to see a psychic then few drinks etc.
most were indeed not much good, asked us all if we knew of a pregnancy, recent death etc etc . we compared notes later!!

one i went to see was from the spiritualist church and boy did she freak me out.she was so accurate. mentioned 2 really old fashioned mens jewish names, said they were great great uncles on dads side.....turns out they were a jewish family,my paternal gran had been disowned,i never knew this, was a skeleton in the closet for lots of reasons. then she mentioned my mum in laws american father was there....another skeleton.;lol. i found so much out after the reading it was amazing.how did she know??i didnt even know. she told me loads of stuff from the past, they do that to validate them selves i think.then she told me loads that was going to happen, all you could hear on the recording is me laughing saying 'as if!!' it was so different to my plans. it all happened!she gave me messages from my lovely nanna, one of them was kind of cryptic but it all made sense later on sadly :(:(

my friends and myself started going to the odd service at the spiritualist church after this, would get the odd message or quick reading from the rostrum.worth going.i even ended up with my lovely man because of a comment made.i had been on a couple of dates with a bloke i thought was out of my league, didnt know he thought i was out of his aswell. i really liked him but wasnt prepared to let myself fall and be hurt again. was suppoised to be meeting him when he finished work and drove the hour it took to get to me,another reason i didnt think it would work.decided to go to the church instead, next thing the woman on the rostrum pointed at me and told me to go where i should have been going because he was the one and she was being given a red rose with no thorns which is supposed to mean love without pain.she also said i had known him in another life and would in a future one but this was destiny, load of bs thinks me. anyway, long story short i went and 8 years later he is the love of my life, looks after me,worships the ground i walk on etc etc.....and a couple of years after that a medium told me the man i was with had been my husband more than once and would be again. spooky!1
now to the sad bit. i lost my brother suddenly 2 years ago, there was only me and him,my parents were distraught.i had to deal with it all, funeral etc. stress near tipped me over. i went to the church, nobody knew what had happened and one of the women came over to me and asked could she read me,for free in a private room? i agreed, didnt say a word.she was really good, went on about ex hubby, then a cousin who had hung himself, then another who had recently died of cancer [big family, lots of sad times] then she started writing in the air with her finger, brother used to do it to my son all the time trying to learn him to spell.she spelt his name, not a common name, told me how he died, reassured me he felt no pain but he was happy to be out of the misery. he was alcoholic.described his house, his dog, told me who had it.we didnt know,it was taken when police broke in to the house.told me stories from when we were kids.basically she spent an hour, during which time i didnt say a word, didnt even confirm she was right in what she was saying.silly but she even told me we didnt put the death in the paper so his p^sshead mates didnt know when the funeral was, true!she was amazing.now explain to me how she knew everything. i wa sin no fit state to answer her, cried all the way through.made em feel better though because i had it in my head because he died when he wasnt supposed to he wouldnt know where to go.she even mentioned the names of my 2 male cousins who passed and said he had met up but was with dads family now.
the point i am trying to make is if you go to the churches they may take a quid or 2 from you at the door for upkeep but readings are free.and i have had fantastic readings which have blown my mind there.especially the last one.

My mother once had a detailed letter from a psychic (well, in generalisations) asking her to ring for further important info that was awaiting.

Unfortunately, the psychic had missed tha fact that my mother had died a month earlier!

I have a gift for burglary. Still think I have to make a living?

People aren't forced to send money to Nigerian emailers, so that's okay is it?
You have to make a living in all walks of life. If you choose to do something illegal then that is your choice however burglary is not a gift or a skill. Its just a choice of direction, like going to work in an office. I wouldnt say working in an office is a gift either.

Also, what have Nigerian emailers got to do with the subject of this thread?

Psychics are trying to convince you that they can somehow see into the future and predict events ,thats your warning bell right there, if anybody had the ability to predict future events they would be straight down the betting shop and absolutely minted , does your psychic have a chauffeur driven Bentley.? If not they are confidence tricksters
