A friend of mine reads tarot cards, she has only done mine a few times and always been spot on (although I was never sure if it was because she knew me).

She did them for me when I had just found out I was pregnant with my first child (unplanned so no baby talk before). She was getting cross saying they were not my cards as it was talking about change, worrying about money, OH and I nervous about things... It was only at the end of a perfect account of how I really was feeling that I told her about the baby and it all fell into place!

And the person who'd just necked five drinks said 'ooer, my uncle's just died, but his name was Norman'
'ah' said the psychic 'that's right it's an N not an M' and blah de blah ...........

Person who necked 5 drinks "Wow"

Psychic "Yes, his death is something to do with the heart area. So sad he was around late 60's"

Drunk "Gosh he had a heart attack, how could you have known that and he was 72, amazing"

I believe in the afterlife according to the spiritualist church. and that is exactly what it is - belief or Faith if you like. I have seen many mediums and some are accurate, some are good, some are so -so and some Fake it! The local spiritualist church know the very good ones and if they give private readings will be willing to provide contact details for them.

BTW - they are NOT charging for their 'gift' - they are charging for their TIME and Expertise. Many of them have day jobs - why should they give up their spare time on doing a reading for a perfect stranger without some sort of remuneration?

I would always advise people who want a reading to contact the local spiritualist church and ask for recommended mediums. or go along to a meeting. Do not use those who advertise in magazines or postcards in shop windows - while some of them are genuine, I fear that most are not!
  • there are a lot around who prey on vulnerable folk, but there are also some decent ones around too.

I have been to one with my H, and he got a lot of comfort after his father died. It certainly did not hurt him/cost him a fortune/plunge him into despair.

The medium gave nice comforting information and made H laugh a bit too.
You would pay and go and see a comedian/ play/band/ so why is a medium any different?

Why isn't there a shred of evidence of these 'gifts'?

There is a lot of 'evidence' Dylan - but, the ones who insist they are fake rely on the fact that 'evidence' can be faked. as in there are a lot of Twenty pounds notes around - some of which are fake! its up to you to decide who is real and who is fake! but just because there are 'fake' notes - it does not mean all notes are fake. use your common sense and IF you go for a reading - dont talk too much!

I had many readings over the phone, over the years and I am very open minded. I don't like to say that anything of any faith exists or doesn't exist because I cannot prove it. I like to believe in the afterlife, but again this is my preference everyone is different.

I phoned a pyscic line (god I can't even spell it lol) many years ago. I was told my red car would be involved in an accident but me and my daughter wouldn't be in it. At the time I had a lime green Sierra estate (nice lol) with a red bonnet (classy) and the only thing I thought could happen to it without me and my daughter in it would be if the handbrake went and it rolled into the road (assuming 'red car' meant mine but with the bonnet.

Anyway, many months later, that particular reading forgotten, I sold the Sierra and bought a burgundy escort. After only 3 weeks of ownership, it was stolen, twice by different people over a period of 48 hours (how unlucky can you get) and when it was eventually found, it had quite obviously been involved in quite a few accidents.

Coincidence? Possibly, but I keep an open mind...

Oh absolutely, and as I said earlier I think funerals (or some aspects of them at least) are one of the most overpriced things out there. I genuinely couldn't believe how much coffins cost

When my Aunty passed a few years ago she had wanted a bamboo coffin. The funeral director wanted £800 for it. I managed to source it online for £250 and had it delivered to him.

I don't think he was too pleased but I don't think they can refuse if you wish to provide your own. It also gave me great pleasure been able to do one last thing for her (there is no way we could have afforded to pay the £800).
