Doris Stokes was one of the best know and liked psychic mediums in the UK and pulled in massive crowds whenever she appeared ( and no doubt made more than a few bob from it).
She received hundreds of letters every year from people wanting her help and advice to contact lost and loved ones , they would all send In Tales of woe and in turn would get sent free tickets to see the show so Doris would know the life story of Mrs x sitting in row d seat 4 months before the show happened along with many others scattered around the audience, no psychic abilities there just plain old deception, fraud and lots of desperate and gullible folk

Hiya i have seen a psychic before and ive also had one to my home to communicate with the ghosts we have here. I can see and hear them and yes i am fully sane. I would say if you wanted to go down a safe route to see a psychic attend a spiritualist church they will ask if anyone wants to make contact and there is no money to be fleeced out of you they do it for the love of doing it. I personally would avoid the mass money making racket of the charletons. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

They'd seen her arrive and had fiddled with the wheel nuts, probably.

    This is an old thread.....

Anyway I will play, no, she said her car was back home and she would get it checked out when she got home.

Perhaps, they got a pickpocket to get her address from her handbag drive/fly (this was in America) to her home and sabotage the wheel!!

    Really???

I consider myself pretty open minded and i wouldn't rule it out, but personally i'd just rather not know.

Just curious, what are peoples views on this? do you think these people are just good con artists with years of experience and if so how would that explain the accuracy? Or do you believe in afterlife? Would be interesting to hear ppls views and stories on their experiences

I had a psychic reading done when I was 20. I went along solely for a laugh not believing in any of it. It was a really surreal meeting though and I came away from it in a very different frame of mind.

I dont know how to explain the accuracy but the psychic I saw got things spot on.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
  • Although as a Christian I do believe in the supernatural, I do not believe that dead people communicate with us. Of course there will be memories of that person for the bereaved, which can be very clear, but it comes from their minds, not from any dead people, imho.

As regards mediums....when I was in my twenties and before I became a Christian, a practising clairvoyant from the spiritualist church told me I would have twins in May (he didn't say which year).

I have one son born in January, when I was 30. I am now 63 and still waiting for my twins.....

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I have seen a psychic once with a friend, she really wanted to go but not alone so I went, just for a laugh. She told me some of the general things you expect but then said someone close to me was getting married that year. I said no my sister was getting married but the following year. She then said the arrangements would change as her fiance would not be able to come to UK so she would go to him and get married in his country and none of her family would be there. It all came true. She also said it was a big mistake and it was.

  • Nearly 16 yrs ago I went to see a psychic around my birthday time - my friend arranged it all, I can't even remember the psychics name. The minute I walked through the door she asked me if I was pregnant, course I knew I wasn't and said so, but she kept going back to it.

Anyway in work the next day we were all heehawin and laughing about it - all very light hearted.

Not so light hearted when 3-4 weeks later I started to feel a bit dodgy, with a virus, which some 30 weeks later became my wonderful son :)

    My thoughts....physics? LOL!

if people could read the future, see the unknown and speak to the dead, why is there still crime? Why isn't the FBI filled with physics solving crimes? Why is the extent of their powers reserved to a few stage tricks where they charge rip off prices to a desperate audience?

Its a very unfair way to con people
