Tesco Fishmonger

Options
Yesterday I went to the fish counter to buy a whole Sea Bass, firstly I was ignored by the only guy working that counter for about 5mins whilst he chopped up some salmon - he had his back to the shop.

He called one of the other staff members from the butcher part who flatly refused to come over and serve me, by now a few people were waiting.

The Fishmonger said he was busy!

First of all how rude, but then when I finally got what I wanted I opened it today and the fish hasn't been prepared, full of guts and covered in scales.

I don't know how to prepare a fish, even after watching on YouTube I wasn't fully confident I'd do it properly so that £4 in the bin, plus ££ on an alternative meal.

To be honest I'd like to punch someone in tesco across the face, the effort involved in returning it (I'm very busy weekdays) the rudeness when I was 'served' and the fact there'd be little care of how inconvenient the whole thing is from whomever I complained to just really makes my blod boil!

Rant over.

TBH I don't think some of the so-called fishmongers know how to gut and scale a fish or even tell if it's fresh. Usually it's the fishermen who gut the fish, not sure if they scale it too.

Did you ask for it to be scaled and gutted?

You wanted to buy a whole sea bass. That's what you got.

As for being ignored, he was probably preparing a whole salmon for a customer who had asked him to fillet a whole salmon.

The other staff on the butchery counter were the lazy ones - In most Tescos, they are supposed to serve on both the raw meat and fish counters.

:D yes I had go at it, quite squishy but I just wasn't convinced I'd done the scales right or got out the bit from around the mouth correctly.

On you tube they used a scaling tool, I only had a knife so again I was just not sure it was right

No HE didn't ask me if I wanted it scaled and gutted?

Incidentally It has never occured to me to ask, except the first time when it had been pre done. Subsequently every time I have asked for a whole Sea Bass it has come without the guts and scales.

I do like how you tried to make it my fault that these tesco staff didn't bother with customer service. They did remember to ask me to pay though... Funny that ;)

Not funny at all - simply offering an alternative view.

You said you wanted a whole sea bass. That's what he gave you.

There is no alternative view, He is a Fishmonger, if his fish isn't prepared he should check if you need it like that, it's his job.

    Your alternative view is wrong.

Offering up excuses for poor customer service, of which I have a right to be annoyed is just plain stupid.

Yawn, you are boring me with your unhelpful comments -

I suppose if I lived in your world, I'd just have been pleased the fish was dead! I didn't ask for a dead whole Sea Bass either.

Of course there is an alternative view, you may not like it but it is there. Or are you saying only your view counts, and anyone who has a different view is wrong?

Why should he, you saw the fish, asked for it and he gave it to you. You got what you asked for, if you'd wanted it prepared you should have asked.

I thought you said there was no alternative view? If there is no other view but yours how can it be wrong, or right for that matter?
