He's not mean with money, he just doesn't have a lot of it. He buys himself books and things on payday, but he'll generally buy us both a meal or something too.0

I think the key thing here is that I know he's not even half as bad as some of the posts suggest... Aside from being a little lazy! We love each other, I'm not just "grateful".
I know he is embarrassed in a way about earning less than me, perhaps that's the source of his false bravado about the ring.
It's just a ring after all.
I think your probably right. If I were you I would discuss the subject rather than wondering the reasons behind it. If he does feel bad that you earn more perhaps it's time to tell him you don't need flash gifts he can ill afford! You also don't need him to 'pretend' things cost more than they did. Have to say I feel a bit sorry for him. He has told a fib but it's hardly relationship destroying ....:o0 -

Is this guy exceptiionally good in bed or something? There's no law to say you have to marry him...or even keep him.BMSrachael wrote: »He's not mean with money, he just doesn't have a lot of it. He buys himself books and things on paydayValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

He's not. Honestly. I'm not some desperate or deluded female. Like I said before, he might be a bit lazy and poor but he's there when it counts.0

Jesus, unless you read the hallmark (it's not that difficult just google it) you won't know whether he's a liar or all the other bad things everyone here is trying to convince you that he is.
If you're willing to accept that he's a wrong 'un without even bothering to check you're no better than him, and quite frankly neither of you should marry the other.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
It's just as easy to love a rich man as a poor man, and the additional benefits are obvious. You wouldn't be stressing over the cost of an engagement ring for a start.BMSrachael wrote: »Like I said before, he might be a bit lazy and poor but he's there when it counts.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
