Beware of Tiscali - customer service is terrible. They overcharged my bank account in March and still haven't refunded my money. Every time I contact them they say it will be within 28 days ! grrrrrr. I believe migrating to another provider from Tiscali is impossible as Tiscali are the only known provider that refuse to release the migration code (MAC) so you have to leave Tiscali and start afresh with your new provider paying the full connection fee etc.0

Having posted the above just found this...

There are more complaints about Tiscali than any other ISP on these threads, how anyone could use them is beyond me. The mere fact that they won't give out a MAC number if you want to leave is a sufficient reason to avoid them.cymro wrote:Having posted the above just found this...

Have heard no negatives at all about Euro1Net. The only drawback is you have to commit for 1 year and pay up front to get the good deal. One I have been recommended is : https://www.newnet.co.uk Slightly more expensive, but only one month contracts and NO charges if you leave, including provision of MAC Code.redrez wrote:Has ne1 any further comments on euro1net.com, this does seem to be the best value, if you sign-up quickly?

See https://www.dslzoneuk.net for users' ratings of most ISPs. Beware: ISP data (services & prices) are over 6 months out of date.redrez wrote:Has ne1 any further comments on euro1net.com, this does seem to be the best value, if you sign-up quickly?
Am with Wanadoo £17.99, but want to change for a cheaper preferably unlimited usage.
Not too bothered about speed dont think I can get over 512kbps neway, but would like to try for 1mb.
Having done a bit more research. Think Im probably better with V21??
Free migration to the 1 or 2mb service on euro1net.com, but having checked can only get 512kbps. Plus euro1net.com seems to be payment at least 6 months up front and your locked into 1 or 2 year contract.
ADSL4less also look good.

Hi Everyone
I am new to this forum and in dire need of some help
I am still on a dial up internet which we have got from ntl. Now we wish to get broadband but ntl don't supply it to us.
Does anyone know of any Broadband companies that can supply a good service without having a BT phoneline?0 -

Hi can any one help. When I click on two green arrows at the bottem of my screen it says dsl modem tx288kbps rx2272kbps, is this the speed of my broadband. Thanks. Joe.0
-
that suggests 2mb - but your broadband supplier could be throttling you back to a different speed (512k or 1mb) - best thing to do is a speed test - which will tell you0

Thanks MR J
How do you do a speed test, sorry to ask you this but I know nothing about broadband, and very little about computers but I am trying.
Thanks, Joe.0
