I use netmeter to monitor my on-line usage. You can set a warning limit, and you can see daybyday,weekbyweek,monthbymonth your usage to help decide the limit to go for.

So as I can only ever get 512 from my village exchange and have free Evening and Weekend phone calls who is the best to migrate to

I just left Wanadoo - and they made it really easy! They don't charge to migrate from and don't hassle you with offers to stay on. I suggest you do the same. You can get the same connection for 11.75 from metronet and 11.99 from v21.(with v21 you click the upto 2 mg option for that price.)

Toucan THEMSELVES admit they are part of the Tiscali empire ! When the Toucan account was set up with BT it came to them as Tiscali !! They both have a centre in India.
Who ever the company, it does not excuse rudeness, or the blocking of my ADSL line for two weeks when it could have been removed in 24 hours. Even a manager put the phone down on me when they did not have an answer for my questions.
The FACTS are, that they are 'BOTH' rude and inefficient companies, whom I have no wish to deal with. IMHO, unless you like that kind of thing, don't go near them.

Apologies for the editing, but have left the relevant part in. I have been in touch with V21 and their Broadband package is definitely a 12-month minimum contract. This is not made clear in the FAQ section, where it states 3 months, but I have had this confirmed by e-mail. Their dial-up is only 3 months.

It is true that you can get free connection, but usually with the more expensive monthly rate companies or if you sign up for 2 years with the likes of E7/Euro1Net etc. But as I have been looking for a good BB deal, this was a better connection rate than others who are mostly between £48 to £60. Having said all that I have been reading elsewhere on these threads, complaints about E7 promising 2mbps and delivering only 400 gbps downloads. Ah well, I'll keep looking for the time being !!!
