found an excellent deal from naims.co.uk today, thinking of going for it. Though would like to know if anyone here has with experience of naims. Apparently it is the same as v21.co.uk service but rebranded and no 12 month contract.
12.99 for 2MB speed & 2GB limit.
0r 10.99 if you sign up for the cheap telephone calls thing.
Plus is only £47 set up charge.
Think it might be quite attractive to those who are looking for cheap and fast internet but who dont download too much.
My original thread about naims.co.uk is http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=106282
p.s. forgot to add, they offer free migrations too!0 -
Looking at 2mb/2gb offer by Naims, it does sound very good, even after the £47 connection fee. The feeling of their website inspires a feeling of customer focus and a specialist provider.
The only question I have is does the up to 2MB mean that you will sometimes suffer lower speeds?0 -

Up to 2mb means they should provide you the fastest speed up to 2mb that your line will take. Depends on the distance from the exchange etc. My ISP said the same and between them and BT they provided just 512K to start. I then asked them to check the line and BT said you can have 1mb, my ISP said I could have 2mb and have been using 2mb for a couple of months.
In actual fact if you do get 2mb your speeds are likely to vary from 1600K to 2100K.Before you buy Google Nest or British Gas Hive check out ESPproMon the Android and iOS Smartphone app that helps you build the same system from just £30.0 -

IMHO their site looks a little amaturist0 -
I have, for about a year, been using V21 512kbit broadband service without a problem but I am now considering moving to their 2Mb 2G capped service. I have not rushed into this because I have been monitoring my usage over the last 2 months to see if I use less than 2G. I think it costs an extra £2.00 per month for every 1G over the 2G limit so for 3G usage it would be £13.99. Unless you are downloading lots of music/video 2G a month should be plenty of bandwidth.
The 2M service is I believe, the cheapest in the country at the moment at £11.99 per month, (£9.99 if you also opt for the telephone call package) - I understand that it is NOT an annual account but has a minimum period of 3 months. It is worth bearing in mind that depending upon your distance from the tele exchange you may not be able to receive 2Mb (this will apply with any ISP) but v21 will give you the best possible speed. I do not want the telephone package as I'm currently with Toucan which is a great package.
I have heard of these other suppliers mentioned in earlier posts but I can definitely recommend v21. Of course if you wait long enough other ISP will probably be able to compete as wholesale Broadband prices continue to fall.
Hope this helps.

I am already on the £9.98 V21 2M/2G service (+ FreeTalk) and can recommend it. I'm not particularly close to my exchange (512k was occasionally problematical) but now get speeds just under 2M.
I use the free NetMeter to ensure that I keep an eye on my usage, although I understand V21 send one an email if/when one reaches 80% of the monthly limit.0 -
v21 is a 12 month jobby where as naims isnt. naims charge 1.75 for every GB over. They also both charge you quite a lot to request a mac code to migrate, which is a shame as I thought id go for this one.0

If you already have a broadband provider its worth ringing them to get switched to a cheaper tariff. I rang tiscali and they do a special rate for customers of more than 12 months of £9.99 for 512 unlimited download package. This is fine for me, but if you wanyt faster they have other dicounted tariffs. Why not check out your provider? From experience with mobile phones etc the best deals get wheeled out when you ring to discuss termination of your contract.
Of course they dont tell you if you dont ask!0 -

Toucan and Tiscali are one and the same - with DISGUSTING customer service, mostly foreign staff and tech support in India.
We cancelled the account, but they went ahead and set it up anyway. They refuse to remove their marker for two weeks. They were rude, hanging up the phone on us twice. Lied to us, promised emails not sent.
We cancelled the account within three days because we found out their tech support centre was in India......they may be very nice people over there but they never understand what you require (from bitter experience with many such companies). Plus most of the people answering the phone at customer services are also foreign and unsure of what's what.
After numerous phone and emails they eventually agreeded that they had received the cancellation but they have still not confirmed this by email as I have requested.
The main thing is that they have put a marker on my phone for two weeks, which they refuse to remove saying that this is down to BT not them, which it isn't. BT can removed an ADSL marker withihn 24 hours. This means that I can not set up with another provider till it is removed.
Then I will be setting up with PLUSNET instead. A good yorkshire company set totally in Sheffield - I checked....and polite !!!
I am going to report them to offtel.
I have warned you....It's up to you but DON'T TOUCH TOUCAN OR TISCALI.

Sorry "car park B" but your facts are completely wrong. These are 2 completely different companies and you should get you facts right before making statements on forums like this one.
Check out both these company details by clicking on their websites and you will find they are no more related than you are to me.Toucan may use Tiscali's network as a reseller but most ISP's use BT's network - that dosen't mean you can judge them on BT's performance.
You will find, if you take the time and trouble, that Toucan has a reputation on customer service that is second to none - unlike Tiscali which is suspect to say the least. I have had experience of both companies and it is important to differentiate between the product on offer, the price and the "customer service" - 3 completely different elements to consider from and ISP.
Your comments do not even make clear which of the 2 companies you are referring to regarding cancelling accounts and call centres in India.
You need to carify your statements.
My advice to anyone thinking of a new ISP is to visit https://www.adslguide.org.uk - read the forum entries for particular ISP's, but research the companies before making a decision.Always remember that people like to complain about poor service but rarely take the time to acknowledge good service.
