Sadly https://www.adslguide.org.uk don't list resellers, so that doesn't really help if you want to check out Toucan. Frankly I don't see any reason to doubt what car park B has said, as Toucan are resellers for Tiscali, and Tiscali has a very low reputation. Also an internet forum is the ideal place to air views such as that
Do you work for Toucan, seniorshot? Thanks to all who post constructively.

I have been advised by my co-Fast4 user Alared, that E7 are now offering a monthly deal, instead of the 12 months contract and up-front payment scenario. Apparently it is £10 per month for 512kbps (fast enough for the average user) and a free modem (minimum 3 months). Only snag, there is a £60 connection charge. Nevertheless if you want to go BB and don't want to be tied down for 12 months, maybe this is the one for you!! https://www.e7even.com"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

I switched to plusnet a few months ago, £14.99 p/m up to 2 mb, mine constantly runs about 1.8 mb. Downloads are capped at 100 gb, more than enough for most people, my monthly average is 1.5 gb. Times out and cuts you off after 30 minutes of inactivity, this has only just been introduced to their plan. Overall reliable and good value for money. The package includes free set up and modem which I didn't need so am not tied to a 12 month contract should a better deal come along with another ISP.0

I've been looking at the deal from Pipex that I mentioned on another thread.
2MB/s for £14.99 a month with 1GB cap; 3GB extra costs £2.70 (and seems to roll over to next month).
Free 500 minutes a month phonecalls (cps)
free connection and modem
and at the moment -
2 months free rental
free ZoneAlarm firewall and anti-virus for a year
free Napster membership for first month
for a low user like me, it seems that anyone spending £5 on dialup internet connection, £4.50 on other phone calls, £1.75 BT call waiting, and £1.25 Onspeed, can persuade themselves that broadband is no more expensive - I might keep the Onspeed though, as the compression will save bandwidth even if the speed hardly shows any more, for the first month at least
yes, if the rest of the house used 18866/1899/18185 a bit more and an off-peak free calls deal, we could save a bit, but 100 calls at 3p still costs
I've been studying adslguide, and there is some whingeing about Pipex, but if it is people who have been zapped for overuse I don't really care. Some are complaining that the company is looking for new customers more than caring for existing ones, but on one thread several people seem happy to have migrated to a 2MB/s 30GB cap product for £17.99 per month0 -
No - I don't work for Toucan. I am simply trying to point out that some of "Car park B"s comments are vague and misleading and some comments are just incorrect facts.
Who is he speaking about regarding his account problems ? He's lumped Tiscali with Toucan and not differentiating which company he's referring to. !0 -
Toucan are simply re-selling a Tiscali product, so it doesn't really need clarifying as far as I can seeThanks to all who post constructively.

I am getting rid of AOL once and for all! I use my computer at home most evenings and all day sunday and monday. Can anyone recommend a reasonably cheap good provider?0
-
do you know roughly how much usage you make a month, or do you want an unlimited connection? It sounds like your a light user whom needs under 2Gb a month
What current speed are you currently on?0 -

As advised I contacted Wanadoo who I have been with for over 14 months and asked if they would reduce the £17.99 a monthe I pay as I can only get 512 and they are doing 8 meg for the same price. Answer NO !!!!!!!Won't
.
So as I can only ever get 512 from my village exchange and have free Evening and Weekend phone calls who is the best to migrate toTony of Graveney0
