I was told by the sales staff at bulldog that they would be unable to give me anything better that 1k through the bt line at my house yesterday
And probably it was not worth bothering to change as anyone using a bt line has to share bandwidth so even if you have 1k you will never get that speed in my area .
So it looks like telewest 512mb at £17.99 is the only option at least I will get that speed !Were all Dooooooooomed !0 -
Even with Telewest you share speed with others connected to the cabinet. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

I read that post from Margaret and theCD was missing from her set-up package and she has had a big problem in sorting it out. But in the main everywhere else the reviews on E7even seem positive.Fran wrote:e7even might seem cheap but I had a pm from an mse-er yesterday when I was looking at providers saying not to go with them as she's in the middle of big problems with them and they took a while even to answer her emails. Also with them you have to pay for a year or two years so you are tied to them whethere they're any good or not."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
The thing about Tiscali (and some others) is that because of the way they operate they do not provide a MAC key, which is a number you get when you migrate (change) to another ISP. That means you have to disconnect from them and start all over again and it can mean a number of days without a provider. For the ones that do have a MAC key, it can be only a small time you don't have a connection and you simply pass from one provider to the next. Most of the other common ones seem to provide a MAC key, though when (if) you change again you would have to check that the ISP you're going to accepts them.mcfcchris wrote:in the article on broadband the following was written about Tiscali
However, due to the way Tiscali is technically set up, once you have it, it is very difficult to leave, so there is a 'lock-in' effect, worth being wary of.
Can you explain this please ? I had read the terms(And re-read them just before just in case!) but it says that I can terminate the contract giving 30days notice.
Have I misread or have i a good contractTorgwen..........

This thread was where Margaret & Ted said about their problems with e7even. Also customer services costs £1 per minute and you have to sign up for a year. In the reviews you've seen have they been with them for long?theloft wrote:I read that post from Margaret and theCD was missing from her set-up package and she has had a big problem in sorting it out. Hi Fran. Yes some of the posters had been with E7even for a couple of years, some 1 year etc. Although the Customer Service is £1 per minute, apparently they are very good at replying to e-mails and have in some cases telephoned the customer. Initially for £5 your get a month's helpline for £5 at local call rate. I will try and find the Forum and post a link on here as well.Fran wrote:This thread was where Margaret & Ted said about their problems with e7even. AJB_Newbie wrote:We currently have 512 BT broadband at £24.99 and want something faster and cheaper. We also have btinternet.com email addresses. If we were to migrate; would we need to change our email addresses or could we keep them without some complicated system of forwarding etc.
Help please!
I had the same trouble with a mate. They offered a new price of 17.99 for a 2g limit. So I got her MAC number and she is now with PlusNet. Cost is 14.99pm, with 'sort of' unlimited downloads. Check their terms....basically means.....they trottle P2P applications.
Also as far as your btinternet addresses, i would recommend purchasing a domain name. For about £5 per year, you can own your own domain. If you then leave an ISP you keep your name and forward your emails to anther account. I have done it for years!
Good luck!!What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
I have just asked them if I leave will I be provided with a MAC number and they confirm that they do so. This means switching is not a problem.

I have just been on to Euro1nets (https://www.euro1net.com) website and they are doing a promotion which is uncapped 512k upgraded to 1Mb for £10.00 Inc Vat p/month with a free modem. It says that this is available to all areas of the country. Surely this has to be the cheapest 1Mb service in the UK!0

Another company that you have to pay for the year upfront though and the free connection is only if you take the two year package.0
