Get back on to NTL, quote to them that https://www.supanet.com are doing 2mb for £17.99/month. Get them to match this to keep your business. As for inclusive evening/weekend/local/national calls? Do as Edinburghlass suggests and sign up with 1899. There is no way you will spend £7 worth of calls in a month to take you up to the £24.99 you are currently paying. I'm with NTL on their 3-2-1 phone package for which they're not charging me line rental ;) and my bills with 1899 are about £3/month including international calls!

    Go get 'em... :D
...and then the window licker said to me...
  • e7even are doing a 1mb broadband for the equivalent of £10/month. It might suit someone wanting to make the jump from dial up.
    See https://www.e7even.com/qa-prices.html
It's the Biennial deal £240 up front with no start up fees.

I think her problem is she is still within the year contract and not in fact able to leave NTL as yet but as you say when she is able to bargain...

    Go get 'em

  • EL,
if she's just signed up with them she might be in a cooling off period and could bring some pressure to bear...

    Hi all

My mum currently has her phone line with BT (around £10.50pcm) but makes all her calls through Onetel and also has dial-up internet with Onetel.

She makes mostly 5-20 minute calls at all times of the day and the occasional 45-90 minute call. She uses the internet quite a lot too and all of this is costing her around £22 pcm with Onetel, bringing total home phone and internet costs to over £32 a month. I'm sure there must be a better deal out there for her!!

Can anyone recommend a combined telephone line and internet (dial up or broadband) provider who would be around £20 pcm? We'd prefer not to get tied in for more than a year at a time.

I'd really appreciate knowing about any good deals around. I'm hoping to change her over in the next month (i.e. May 05).

    Thanks very much!

I generally wouldn't recomment an internet/telephone package unless its a really good deal.

First I would find out exactly what "package" she is on with Ontel. Their StandardUKTalk at the moment offers free w/end UK calls, the w/end being from Midnight Friday to Midnight Sunday and 5p a hour for calls in the evenings outwith the w/end.

If she takes this one she should then sign up for www.call18866.co.uk for all other calls than the free w/end ones. With 18866 she will be charged 0p per minute with a 2p connection charge for each call, a saving of 3p on each call on Onetel prices.

Then start looking at Broadband/Dial up which as she is with BT has a big selection of suppliers to look at.

However, having said all that, Onetel are also doing Telephone/Internet packages and if she phones to say she is leaving both their telephone and internet service they may well offer her a reasonable deal to keep her custom.

edited to add, tell her not to let Onetel persuade her into changing her line rental from BT to them and here is the page for their Bundles.
  • Hi
I bought OneTel's 'TotalUKtalk' package =#29.99 pm 24/7 free local & national calls and 512 broadband - no connection/modem fees - but beware although they told me my system was OK to take bb, after several weeks, many phonecalls and not being able to use the service I was eventually told by their modem supplier that my computer chip was noncompatible and would have to change it, which I gather is not recommended....so I postponed the servie with the view of upgrading the system, they agreed but said I would have to pay #50 which would be credited back when up and running....but lilttle did I know that for the 2 months previous when not being able to use the service they too over #120 from my bank by dd. Now they argue that it was my fault for not knowing my computer was not compatiable...so there's a bit of a ding dong going on now and I think it's heading for WATCHDOG or WHICH!!
I've since learnt that HomeCall are offering much the same for #24.99 which aint bad. Worth checking out I think

ADSL4less !! They are offering 2 Mb speed Broadband (with 2 Gb monthly limit) for £11.99 per month. Sounds really good. I know they have been mentioned on these forums before, but with my steam dial-up it take s/so long to load each page, that I gave up looking. Are they any good ? (They are in Top 10 on ISP Review but this does not cover all companies I fear). While I'm at it, I think it is cheaper to buy my own modem/router/firewall from EBay, but can anyone recommend a reliable make & model. There seem to be so many.
I posted this a while back and did not receive any response. Contacted
https://www.adslguide.org.uk asking why ADSL4less were not listed on their site although they were carrying their ads. This was the reply "Hi,The adverts we carry are completely independent from the ISP list, so there is no relation between them. ADSL4Less are probably a reseller of someone elses services.
Anyone with any experience of them ??

Bearing in mind the mutual benefits that accrue when an existing UK Online Broadband subscriber recommends a friend ... would any existing subscriber willingly befriend this poor lonely person who has no friends? ;)
