Are banks legally allowed to charge 16 year olds??? seeing as anyone under 18 is not supposed to have credit facilities it doesn't seem to make sense.
Surely banks should double ensure under 18's bank accounts cannot go into an overdrawn position in the first place. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have recently been charged £35 for not having sufficent funds in my account to pay a standing order. Surely it does not cost the bank this much just to send me an automated letter detailing this? Does anybody know where I stand?
(Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere, I am new to this site!)Looking for ways to save

Can I ask for interest on the first letter I send? Somebody has said that you cannot ask for interest unless it actually goes to court...
All help appreciated

Please help me,I want to reclaim my bank charges and I'm finding it hard to print the template, also I need the proper address for the Halifax bank.
I have two and don't know which is the right one to ask for the last 6 years of charges.
I don't know if to print the letter on this website or the one on the consumer action group site.
Very confused and a bit thick.0 -

Step-by-step Guides: Bank Charges: Reclaim Your Cash | Top New Bank Account Calculator: Charge them interest Template Letters: (right click and save) Ask for charge details |Initial letter | Second letter | Small claims note Get Updates On Important Changes: Free Weekly Money Tip
Follow the steps by first of all getting all your information/statements by using the "Ask for charge details" letter. Its important you use this letter and don't just go asking for statements from your bank as they can and do charge per statement.
Once you have this information you then need to input each and every claimable charge, see post 4 in the Reclaim Help Thread linked in my signature, into the Interest Calculator along with the date and description of each charge. Again it is important this is accurate as this will form your defence should you end up taking your bank to court. This needs to be sent to the bank with your first letter asking for the return of your charges. If you don't get the response you want you need to send off the next letter and follow the steps through.
If you have any problems with the letter and the responses from your bank, come back and post your query on the relevant thread for your bank where someone will be able to answer your query.
Have a read of the above and in particular the Reclaim Help Thread link is in my signature. Yes you can reclaim from both accounts.0 -
No official bodies can help so I hope someone out there can.
I'm in the process of reclaiming and need to know:
1. Can overdraft interest charged be included in the claim
2. When calculating interest to claim on the charges I've paid - do I have to calculate it on each charge separately0
