im just about to write my first letter to my bank asking for a full list of charges that i have paid over the last 6 years and would like to ask few questions,,
firstly the 10 pound cheque i need to send do you think a 10 pound postal order would surfice, as my bank have cancelled my cheque book..
secondly do i send the letter to my own branch of lloyds tsb, or another office and does anyone know which office ??0 -
well i requested mine today from halifax , i managed to get them to send it for free , i called their customer compaints line , so you could try calling them first , and if that does not work, then while you speaking to them ask them where to send the request and if it will cost/ how much it will cost0

Postal order will do however if you have internet banking you can in fact download all your statements. You'll find a basic start guide in this thread and further information in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature which has all the links to the main banks' threads.0

Hi everyone, i want to join u guys on the bandwagon of reclaiming charges. ive been unemployed for 2 yrs now, previously on jsa, now on income support and incapacity benefit. I also receive child tax credit and child benefit. My bank lloyds tsb keeps charging me money from my benefits. Am financially getting ruined and need ur help to sort this mess out. I have just sent a letter to my bank asking for 6 years of bank statements.I have a loan with them and am not able to pay them the monthly amount because of the OD they keep taking. I am sure there is all the info if looked on the forums but don't have the means to spend lots of time checking. Please help me by getting started or giving links to relevant pages. I need to stop my bank before the ruin me. How do i stop them taking money from my benefits as i believe this is against the law?.when i wrote the letter requesting statements i asked them to take the money out of my account, as i do not have a cheque book, will that still work?. When they sent the statements will they be for my account, credit card and loan, or do i have to ask for any of them seperatly? please help me and any advice u can give i will forever indebted to you.0

Plenty of information on this website. It is not against the law for the bank to deduct charges once your benefits are in your account. It IS illegal to attach a charging order or to take an assignment of the benefits BEFORE they are in your account.0

Can you open another account and have the benefits paid in there? I feel you need to take strong action here, and then sort out the mess. Have you tried Citizens Advice Bureau? They really are very helpful, and can do some of the work for you. It will give you some peace of mind, too.0

i will open an account tomorrow, even though the only account i can get is a basic. i will go to the CAB and speak to them. It still disgusts me when i see banks doing what they do. Can i reclaim money still due to hardships or SS Act 1992?0
