Hi im wanting to reclaim my bank charges. i dont get charged that often but i bet its added up in the last 6 years.
1, I have printed out my letter requesting the details of the charges. Should i wait and set up another account before sending the letter. Or can i send it now?
2, what are the costs of taking the bank to small claims? Asuming i win how do i get my money back for fees incurred will the legal procedings?
Thanks0 -
Send off your letter now asking for your information/statements as this part can take up to 40 days if not more.
Have a read back through the posts in this thread and the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature as there is a link there to court costs.0 -

Hi All, Can Anyone Tell Me, The Interest Calculator Provided On This Website For Claiming Back Bank Charges, Do I Have To Put In Just The First Date Of Charge And Total Charge Over The 6 Years? Or Is It A Date For Each And Every Charge??? Any Help Would Be Much Appreciated.
Thankyou.0 -
Hi
Yes, you have to put the dates in for EACH charge and the interest will be calculated accordingly, you can then create your list from this and it will add everything up automatically. You should copy/paste the list into a document for easy reference later.
Hope this helps.0 -

Morning,
I've just spent the last hour digging around this site to try and find my answer, but at the moment I can't see the 'wood for the trees' so I'm going to have to ask, sorry if it's already been covered somewhere else.
Anyway, I've started the ball rolling in reclaiming back some charges, written to the bank using the standard template letter, and yesterday I received a whopping envelope with all my statements included, which unfortunately looks like an unbound copy of War & Peace !!
That's all there is. Now, have I got to individually go through each seperate statement page making a note if there are any charges on that page, then move onto the next sheet, and the next, and the next etc ??
Obviously, if this is the case then I'll sit down tonight, open a tinnie, stick on the footie and get my head down.
I just need clarification. I think that I've really answered my own question here as from what I can make out there is no other way to calculate my charges, but if there is anything simpler, or someone's got a 'handy hint' that would be great.
Thanks a million.0 -
Hello,
I have recently sent the template letter from this website to Halifax bank to try to claim back charges on my account.
Was wondering if anyone if anyone could share their experiences of what happens in this process with me ie, how long did it take, did you add the 8% intrest, how successful were you, were you turned down etc etc.
I thought it was a good idea to send the letter recorded delivery so that i knew that they had got it and couldnt use that !!! a delaying tactic.
Any help with this matter would be great.
Thanks for your time, hope to hear from you soon.0 -
hi
i am looking into reclaiming my bank charges.i have asked alliance and leicester for a list of charges but after a rather long wait they have finally sent me a complete list of all my transactions over the last six years.is this normal?i was expecting a list containing just the charges.
looking at the sample letter on this site, that i now send to make my claim,it says to "include a list of charges".will the list be sufficient if i type in my own list after going through all the charges on the statements they have sent me or will i need something more official as proof of charges?
thanks for help
