  • I'm new to all of this, but have started the ball rolling with regards to reclaiming from Nat West on two accounts. I have received statements (even though they only sent them for 4 1/2 years I have had to ask for a further 18 months on one account). On the 2nd letter when it says list charges I'm not sure how I should do this. Any advice would be appreciated

Have a look at post 8 in this thread which is a quick guide to how to start your claim. Also read the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature for FAQ and other help for your claim.

    Good luck :)
  • Obviously if you have no money in your account, you need to send it in some form or other. I sent my first letter without an accompanying fee, using the logic that if I send any money, they will take it. If I don't, they can either charge my account, as they're quick enough to do for everything else, or they may just do it for free. They can always send me a letter for £30, which they're fond of doing, and I'll claim that back as well!

  • Hi,

I am about to make a claim through the courts and am trying to work out the interest so I just want to double check, do you put each bank charge separately into the calculator.

    Many Thanks.

Yes. Just put the charge amount and then the date and click on 'calculate'. You can then click 'add charge to list' and it will list them all neatly to the right giving a running total.

When you are done click 'print' and it will open a new window giving a list that you can then highlight and copy and paste into a word or txt doc on your compter and save for printing off. :)
  • I have written to my bank asking for a list of the last 6 years bank charges and they have sent me six years bank statements instead. I dont know what to do. I think they are trying to make it difficult for me. I could either go through them in whichcase I might miss one or I could write and ask them to send me just a list of the charges.

Has this happened to anyone else and if so what did they do?

In fact its easier if you have copy statements rather than the lists the banks may send as often they can only be read properly by the bank staff.

Read through post 8 in this thread and using the Interest Calculator you input each charge in date order into this and it will produce you a list including interest that you can claim at the court stage and will also produce the lists you will require at a later stage as your court defence.
