PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi,
I took out a few loans in 2005 through Beneficial Finance totalling £3000 , Loan was underwritten by HFC Bank. I went travelling and missed payments resulting in full debt of £8000 being transferred to Capquest debt recovery ( this was settled early 2011).
I am unsure but fairly certain PPI was attached to the loan. I was going to write to Beneficial, should i send the t&c request with £1 or go straight for the SAR letter with £10? Is Beneficial the right people to go to with this request?
Thanks for any advice
Sent off the SAR letter this morning. I am expecting a rejection on this one reading a few snippets from the forum. Have a feeling the 'optional' PPI would have been ticked on the forms, the salesman in Beneficial was quite adamanat that due to poor credit my loan application would be denied without taking out PPI. Obviously this was all verbal in the office at the time of application and i have no proof of this. They will probably have a tick in a box.
Anybody had any success with this type of complaint and circumstances?0 -
Hi, I have my Abbey loan details in front of me but I'm not sure what to look for. There is no obvious mention of PPI being added but next to my name, it does say 'Insured Person' in small print. Also, at the bottom of the page, there is a heading that reads 'Loan and Payment Protection Details' but only mentions 'Loan', 'Interest' and 'Total amount payable'. Does this wording indicate that PPI has been added or is this just a standard, generic letter that was used regardless of whether it was or wasn't added?0

Hi
I have been offered a refund by Barclaycard for a card I took out back in January of 2004. My problem is that the are saying they dont have statments for longer than 6 years back and as such they have estimated the PPI I have paid. I am fairly confident this has been underestimated considerably but have no copies of the statments to prove this.
Is there anyway I can force them to send me statements from the start of the account? I am sure I have heard of some way of doing it for the last 10 years but hoped somebody can help?
Thanks0 -

If there is PPI on there it will show with the loan amount and interest and would say Insurance and interest on insurance.0 -

Let them know that you are accepting the offer pending a Sar request and will put a claim in for any more months that you can find PPI paid for from the Sar at a later date.
Enclose £10, ask for all info they hold on you not just statements and give them 40 days to respond.

Hi if this is rejected put it in to the fos as they will work on the balance of probability so they will look at all angles.0 -

This is a tricky one stevo it depends on the bank, at the moment barclays have got one of the worst records for upholding and paying out on complaints.0 -
Why use a company to send a rejection to Lloyds and if you win give a hefty % of the win plus Vat to them for doing what you can do for free??.
What were the reasons they gave for the rejection and was the PPI in with the loan payment each month or was the PPI paid separately?
They said based on the evidence provided, they did not agree that the PPI was mis sold. The PPI was paid seperately every month along with the payment off the credit card. We don't want to use an agency, but unsure if it is worth going to the FOS and doing ourselves. Thanks so much for your reply. :T0 -

Write back to them, reiterate the reasons you were mis sold, if you had sick pay from work life insurance etc, show that you had no need for this PPI, let them know if they do not reconsider you will take this to FOS .
See what they come back with and we will take it from there, all for free:D
Look here for other reasons that may apply to you.
