PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

I have a mortgage and a personal loan from Santander. I thought this issue probably wasn't applicable to me for the following reasons:
I arranged the mortgage through a broker, who advised me to take out PPI from a third party (which I did), so assume there was no PPI from the bank.
I opted out of PPI at the point of application for the loan(online), again taking it out with a third party.
I was feeling pretty sure I have nothing to reclaim, but those pesky sales people keep trying to convince me that I may have, so I'm starting to wonder..
contact Santander and ask them if you had ppi with the loan, do the same with the broker.
At least you will know one way or the other.0 -

I'm pretty sure we were mis-sold PPI. I phoned to complain and it's being looked into. A few people have said they've had a letter and an offer and then just have to wait.
The reason I'm asking is my ex lives in Australia so getting him to actually sign something is going to be a hassle. Much easier to get it paid into our disused joint account (also with the Halifax) and just split it fairly from there.
I'm also having difficulty getting hold of him (long story involving him being scum) so if the worst came to the worst I could just send a cheque to his parents. However, if I have to track him down, send something to him, get him to send it back and then forward it on it's going to take ages and be a nightmare.
They may want this at some point, if you win redress they may ask you for the account you want the redress paid into, this will need both sigs.0 -
I'm having problems with the Northern Bank (the Belfast-based Danish-owned bank, not the Rock). I have a Visa card with them dating back to sometime in the 90s and only cancelled the PPI on it last year when I realised I was wasting my money on it.
I wrote to the bank asking for the paperwork for the original agreement using the Moneysaver template. They wrote back asking which section of the Consumer Credit Act my letter referred to - there are only two sections mentioned in the template, one of them applies to credit cards and one to other loans.
Their letter was unsigned and gives only the address of the corporate HQ.
This seems to me to be a delaying tactic. I've written back to them making absolutely clear which section of the act applies.
Under the 12 working day rule I reckon they have until Tuesday next to get in touch.
If they don't, how do I proceed? If I don't have the paperwork and they're stonewalling me, how can I progress my PPI claim?
You only need the card number and reasons for mis sell to put a claim in.

About 15/16 yrs ago I took out an endowment mortgage with Halifax, which included critical illness cover. As the years have gone by we have remortgaged a couple of times & converted the mortgage to a repayment one & have added additional life insurance etc, whilst keeping the original endowment policy running.
Questions:-
1) Am I entitled to claim anything back for this endowment policy (Wife & I were newlyweds.....naive....first mortgage etc).
2) Are we better off keeping the policy running for the remainder of the term (It has about 9/10 yrs to run & was designed to pay off a £45,000-£48,000 mortgage from what I remember) - Although the yearly statements we receive state that it will pay off less than this it will still be a nice payment when it does eventually payout.
3) What would happen if we 'cashed it in'......would it be worth doing this......how much 'roughly' would we get?

I stopped using the card when suddenly (maybe when Santander bought Abbey?!) MBNA interest went to 34%. I actually never wrote or spoke to them about closing the account just simply stopped using the card. That must have been 2004/2006. How long do we have to claim? Where can I read info on how to claim without using agencies?

Need some advice on this one please
Put a few claims in with Lioyds, got a problem with one of the claims
Lloyds want me to send them proof and i have nothing
All i got is a loan agreement policy for a loan that i had after the loan i am trying to claim for and the loan number i had previously is on this policy,if that makes sense ?
Lloyds have paid out on that policy but not the one previously the one that i am trying to claim for.
It's a old loan going back to the late 90s
I know i had ppi on this like with all the other loans that i have had with Lloyds and i have been successful with all of them thanks to this thread0 -
Sorry I posted this in another thread and it was closed 2 posts later lol, so I've just copied and pasted it from there.
Hello Everyone.
I'm a total newbie to this, I just wanted to see if anyone could give me the advice I require.
I had been wondering for sometime if I had been paying PPI on an old MBNA EBL card that I used to have and I recently came across a statement dated 2010 that states that I was, I got married in July 2010 and got a bank loan around June to pay off card and the rest would go towards the big day itself. The bills would always go to my mothers address so the card itself was taken out prior to 2002 which is when I moved to my current address, so I have been paying PPI since I got the card. Do I have grounds to claim back this money, I never claimed on it and have been employed since before getting the card. I read somewhere on the site that I would need a credit history report and another post stated that a customer rang MBNA directly. I'm just so confused, some people have stated on here that they knew how much they were claiming back, I myself would have no idea how to work that out. So basically I would like to know were I stand in regards to making a claim and what should my next steps be in regard to getting this money back....if possible!
Thank you for your time and patience, any advice and replies would be greatly appreciated.

The ppi monthly payment includes the interest, they give you back the ppi you paid to date with the interest for that time, how many months did you pay this loan for? if settled early they will have given you a rebate of the ppi so they take this off the redress.
Thank you for your reply amersall. The loan ran full term for 12 months - it just seems that it was in 2000 the interest should be higher as it was taken wrongfully from me 12 years ago?0 -
Can anyone help please. I had a loan with MBNA that has since finished. I am checking if i had PPI included. I followed the claim letter as set out on this site. Today i have received a reply back which states " Thank you for your letter requesting information under section 77 (1) of the consumer credit Act 1974. This loan account has in fact been paid in full and so the account is closed with a nil balance. As such by virtue of section 77 (3) (a)) section 77 (1) does not apply.
Does anyone know if this is a standard fob you off letter or if there is another avenue i need to pursue. Thanks0
